Brilliant delivery, 9/10, would read again.

[–]will7 -4 points-3 points ago

I'm aware of the meaning of the word. I'm saying in this context and similar situations, people throw it around just because they either don't understand the material or haven't properly investigated it enough to even dismiss it as pseudoscience.

Your comment is so not helpful. You could at least attempt to come up with an accurate way of criticizing the video other than just calling it pseudoscience because it's something you don't understand. Pseudoscience is a word internet "scientists" use when they believe their own belief is more justified and they wish to discredit another. Speaking of which, what is he saying that you see as inaccurate?

You've received a surprisingly positive response from the majority of people. Normally when other people say something controversial like that they get a backlash of negative feedback.

But good description of the court system, calling them "rituals" is completely accurate. I take it you're interested in the Freeman (along with other) movements?

Good thing we have accurate and intelligent criticism from people like you, who know all about psychology, warfare, mathematics, engineering, and other sciences and will gladly enlighten us on why we should continue supporting our current corrupt system! Yay.

He's an angry old man holding insane delusions.

You're an angry inexperienced boy arguing for a system he never looked twice at without bias. Respect your elders.

I'm not saying he doesn't have pretty ideas or his heart isn't in the right place -- it is. But to tacitly reject everything from John Locke to Plato, to think it's BIG BUSINESS and money that's a corrupting influence on government, to universally discard all of history: it's just too ... naive? of a belief.

John Locke to Plato didn't have our technology nor did they live in a time where we could destroy the world with it if we continue supporting a corrupt system. It would be naive to think you would be put in a better position of living by supporting people who would gladly get you killed in one of their wars to protect the earth's resources they unfairly claimed control of.

There are problems in the world, but nothing so cynical as this man believes. It's as if he views our current world beyond redemption, and societies all across the world as without any redeeming value.

Nonsense, his whole vision is on how to fix our current form of living for future generations, unlike the system we have in place now that will make us pay for the actions of the people in power. Your argument doesn't have a leg to stand on, I hope you are either extremely wealthy or have control of a very rare resource on Earth: because if you don't, you're screwing yourself over with a rusty spoon by supporting a system that controls the way you live without considering you at all. That, my friend, is why he considers man as the dumbest creature.

Also, the "resource based" economy (every economy is resource based, it is in the very definition of an economy) is also called post-scarcity economics. Post scarcity economics assumes that the earths resources are endless which we know for a fact they are not.

Your explanation is the exact opposite of a resource based economy. It's the monetary economy that assumes the earth's resources are unlimited. The amount of money we have is not equal to our resources, so the resources will burn out far before the value of our money does. It'll just be paper, just like what happened in Germany.

A resource based economy is only logical, as the monetary economy supports corrupt leaders in plentiful amounts.

Sorry, I wasn't being fair and judged your viewpoint before you were given a chance to even express it.

I disagree. It is the monetary system that causes this.

Are you forgetting someone has to print the money? Who is this? That would be the Federal Reserve for the U.S., and they are technically a private banking cartel not run by the federal government. They are about as federal as Federal Express.

Trust me, a resource based economy is undeniably more reliant than a monetary one. As long as someone prints the money or controls the majority of it's portions, there will be a corrupt individual on top who is willing to do whatever it takes to keep it.

Even if that means... influencing the educational system to ensure the larger portion of the population stay within the power of the government in charge, which protects them. This video is very interesting, you should check it out.

It's because the pessimistic people are normally part of a generation that was not taught to think outside of the box. We normally just have to wait until that generation dies off or until they adopt the new ideas.

Fresco didn't say anything about controlling the population, that's just joedirt123's speculation.

That tells us nothing, and unless you have any accurate criticism for the Venus Project other than a one line "they are crazy and because I stick with the norm which supports corrupt leaders and old habits of thinking, I'm smart." I'm convinced you're only speaking out of bias regardless of how great of an idea it is.

Either way, you must think you're wealthy or in that .4% wealthy group, because you're screwing yourself over with a rusty spoon.

[–]will7 -1 points0 points ago

The Venus project was created to live in accordance with nature instead of screwing ourselves and the earth over for resources like our current society. In other words, we're needlessly making ourselves suffer and our current system only supports, with certainty, the wealthy. Or, those who print the money. You're not in that group, buddy, so if you want any kind of progress on the way that you live and have any respect for the earth, you wouldn't be defending the people who forced a lesser form of living on you before you could even talk.

I'm getting the feeling you're the type of person who had an idea instilled into his head since you were young, and will mindlessly defend it without thinking of the consequences of continuing the idea. It's only your bias talking at this point, you already know cities under the ocean sound awesome.

Why does everyone say Reddit is "totally for Ron Paul" when almost every comment thread on Ron Paul I read is against him and making fun of his supporters? Or is that the military propaganda bots I've heard about?

Either way, Ron Paul is a complete boss, anyone who doesn't see that is a complete moron. In the age where almost all politicians lie, he's the only one coming off as honest with what he does. You would be a fool to not support him.

I didn't know black atheists exist! by kwaylubin BlackAtheism

[–]will7 5 points6 points ago*

They brainwashed our people... It shouldn't be the case that we have to "come out" to our families. For every European and Christian influenced black person, there is a rich white guy laughing at how "they think they are one of us." They are clowning us even to this day, especially when there are still black people who think there is actually equality, it's funny. The illusion of inclusion, I suppose.

My parents started out really religious. From Christian to Jehovas Witness level. (long before I was born, fortunately) then began studying real knowledge, from books from the Rosicrucians to the Metu Neter. I still remember when all my friends went to Church and I would ask my parents "Why can't I go with them?" because church-goers always made it look fun. My parents always explained it wasn't in my best interest. It's a good thing they did, too.

You can't stop people from illegally pirating material without stripping them of their rights. However, you can lessen the amount of people illegally doing it by lessening the copyright period.

In other words, most pirating wouldn't even be illegal. It would be a better way of encouraging people of buying the new products, and discouraging them from pirating because, after all, there is all that free stuff out there that's perfectly legal.

It's really impossible to enforce. Maybe for the people who do get caught violating the 5 year copyright period, give them a fine that is equal to the product pirated unless the product was by a scam artist who makes outrageously expensive products in attempt to cash in on people who pirated it.

But of course. Free is awesome.

What I'm saying is, we're all on the same boat and by arguing that we're only trying to "rationalize" what you perceive to be wrong, you are automatically throwing the bucket over your head as well. The people against piracy don't care about your rights or privacy, the moment you think they are on your side is the moment you lose.

It's not simply about "getting free stuff" - it's that we couldn't stop people from pirating if we tried. The only thing we could possibly do is strip them of something that is rightfully theirs. Their rights. There is only 2 sides in this argument. You're either on the side of "free speech, they can pirate all they want, whether or not I do is my up to my own morals." or "strip them of their rights, even though this may harm me as well."

Really, all I argue for is a lower copyright law. Like, 5 years would be a fair enough opportunity to profit off of projects. Anything longer has potential to harm creativity.
