Can a Pro-Pot-Legalization Texas Dem Beat an Incumbent Drug Warrior? by Shikadi314in texas

[–]teddywilson 0 points1 point ago

From the folks I've talked to, they seem to think it will be close. But no one really believes that Beto will be able to defeat Reyes in the end.

I've only watched the US English version. Is this bias in the Russian version?

The difference is the "dead hookers" meme is a joke (and the people telling it know it is), but the birthers actually believe the shit they're saying.

There's a difference between being overtly racists (Wade and the Dallas PD of the 1950's, 60's and 70's), and reacting to the unconscious biases that we've been conditioned to have by society.

Former Houston Chronicle reporter Sarah Tressler has filed a gender discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission . . . attorney Gloria Allred said Tressler was fired from the Chronicle because of her part-time job as an exotic dancer by IsleCookin texas

We're a so-called "right to work" state - meaning your employer can fire you for whatever the fuck they want to. All the Chronicle will have to do is prove they would have fired a male reporter for the same reason.

Don't be ashamed of the people that worked the cases? How about that racists son-of-a-bitch district attorney in Dallas, Henry Wade? (Yes, of Roe v. Wade) At least 15 people he put away (mostly people of color) have been exonerated, and much of what lead to their wrongful convictions was based on racism. That was their tool.

“We don’t have enough doctors. We don’t have enough nurses, and the gap is widening every day,” economist Ray Perryman said, noting the growing population in Texas. by excoriatorin texas

Tort reform was supposed to fix this - but instead of doctors and nurses filling the need in rural areas in Texas, they all headed for the metro areas.

Any point you're trying to make is getting lost in the "but people of color can be racists against white people too" trip you're on.

While those would seem like valid concerns (as a white guy I can't speak for your realities or experiences), I don't think they have much to do with the topic.
