Here's a suggestion: learn the proper use of ellipses.

It's annoying when people use reddit as their creative writing outlet.

Yes, and I'm also an analyst. But I prefer the title Massanalrapist.

Never hurts to offer basic/sound advice, regardless of validity. But reserve passing judgement and stay the pitchforks.

I've said this a few times (occasionally to downvotes): Stay away from the self posts from throwaway accounts!

"Tell men not to rape" by Tidlywankin MensRights

[–]stevescorpio 6 points7 points ago

If people want to raise awareness of rape as means to reduce its likelyhood (which I'm all for), do so in gender-neutral context. A rapist can be anyone. If feminists refuse to acknowledge this, they're also refusing to accept equality.

It would take zero extra effort to produce gender-neutral anti-rape efforts.

How Much is Your Job Costing You? (everything has a cost) by NickChopperin jobs

[–]stevescorpio 4 points5 points ago

I make almost half of what I did a few years ago. What this has afforded me is more time with my wife and kids, time to study at university part time, ability to take care of my physical health, and volunteer in my community.

When I did have a soul-sucking job I made the most of it and saved as much money as possible. Which helped put me in the position I'm in now.

Voluntary sex causes as many (vaginal) injuries as rape, study claims. Men have been convicted with this being the primary "evidence". by fondueguyin MensRights

[–]stevescorpio 2 points3 points ago

Somewhat unrelated but also interesting. There are similar issues with shaken baby syndrome "evidence" leading to false convictions in some cases. The "necessary" conditions to imply causation are not always sufficient.

I tried to be objective about it. Discuss protecting the sheep and better ways to keep wolves away, but this could be another boy crying wolf. Don't take out the pitchforks until you are sure.

Things you'll never see feminists demand... by deathsythein MensRights

[–]stevescorpio -1 points0 points ago

I see your point but I think the choice has to be that the homemaker makes knowing of the consequences. That the person may lose touch with their professional skills.

How long does it take one to retrain or get work experience to regain one's previous career? It takes less than 4 years to get a university degree.

A brief period of alimony to allow a person to get back out there, maybe a logical next step to get away from the alimony in perpetuity.

Custody of a child should be assumed 50/50 split with no child support. If one of the parents cannot afford to keep up with the 50/50 they can borrow money from their ex-spouse (or from a bank or relative or friend, etc), and assume the debt is to be (eventually) repaid.

Only in special circumstances should custody and child support deviate from a 50/50 scenario.

...women give up a job when they are married to take care of the house work...

In 2012, for young couples, this is a choice. In this day and age you are not your spouse's property, you have options to get educated and get work. How about some individual responsibility? This isn't 50+ years ago when families had 5-10 kids and women didn't/couldn't go to university nor have access to many of the jobs that men have.

Getting married affords the option of being a home-maker or caregiver. Getting divorced should take this option away.

As much as a story like this disgusts me, this is another self-post story that may or may not be fabricated. We know this sorta thing happens but unless it's a link to a reputable news source or link to court proceedings, tread carefully when passing judgement.

Modern Men Are Trained To Hate Women by SovietStevein MensRights

[–]stevescorpio 8 points9 points ago

An interesting bit of writing if it were a fiction. It goes to show how creative writing can be constructed and presented in such a way to sound convincing. Sad thing is people fall for it. Draw on some well-known stereotypes, provide a few anecdotes, and dabble a few pop culture references, then baby you've got a feminist stew goin'.

How about how modern women are trained to hate other women? A women wants to be a housewife and caregiver for her children, her friends judge her and say she must be oppressed by her husband. Then she gets a career, maybe starts a small business, her "friends" think she's a bad wife/mother because she's spending less time with her husband/kids. Not to mention being judged on the clothes she wears, the car she drives, and based on the profession of her husband (me).

Wired thinks you are all a bunch of "sick and deluded" freaks by Marcel_Ledbetterin MensRights

[–]stevescorpio 1 point2 points ago

I hate this "groupism" view that thinks r/MR sees all men as "disadvantaged". Oversimplified for journalistic effect.

But if you explain specific issues that many men face (if you actually read the sidebar here), then most reasonable people, regardless of gender, see these as actual issues of equality (or lack thereof).

And if you actually read the comments here, you'll see that misogyny is down-voted. The only thing bordering on misogyny that gets up-voted are posts pointing out the hypocrisy of misandrist sentiment towards men.
