Why is everyone so gung-ho about traveling? Am I making a mistake by not doing it when I have the chance? by stayinhome43in AskReddit

Haha, that's definitely a creative and fun way to record where you've been! It will be great to look back on all those photos later. And I agree, it does seem like more of a he :P

Thanks for the perspective and advice. It does make sense to consider the commitments you mention that I'll have in the future. (Although replace "wife" with "husband" since I'm a girl.) That's an impressive list of places you've visited, and it's particularly cool about the dogs! They're better traveled than a lot of people!

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Those places and stories sound awesome. You should consider writing a book about your travels when you get older. I'm not being sarcastic at all--I loved reading those descriptions.

Thanks!

You're right; I'm American. I probably should have said that in the original post. I go to school in California but am originally from the midwest.

I was thinking about Europe (maybe France and/or Spain) or South America (I have a friend from college who lives there).

Sigh. Okay, I guess I will reconsider. All these people (in real life and now on Reddit) probably know better than I do :P

Interesting point, thanks! I like the last part: "the world isn't going anywhere."

Wow, that's a lot of places. How long have your trips usually been? What amount of time do you think is best for a trip abroad? Also: how do you ensure that you'll actually get to see how people live in the place you're visiting rather than just being a tourist separate from local life? (Sorry for all the questions--I don't have much travel experience.)

Thanks. Although this makes me wonder what other things I'm missing out on!
