I'm 15 and live in Toronto, Ontario. I have Asperger's Syndrome and SAD, so social interaction for me is difficult at best. It's really hard for me to make and sustain friendships and even to just be around people- forget about going out with friends or anything 'normal' like that. But on the internet, none of that matters. I don't know what I would do without you guys.

What killed your childhood? by rmm45177in AskReddit

When my rabbit died. Death was nothing new to me (people I knew had this annoying habit of dying), but I had never experienced such a profound sense of loss before. I had gotten her for my 7th birthday and she had been there through everything. Well, as much as a rabbit can 'be there'. I'm 15 now and she died in September- that's almost 8 years. To me, she was such a fundamental part of growing up that it seemed illogical to still consider myself a child without her. I guess it depends on how you define childhood.

Hey guys, what's your stance on child leashes? by turtleinahalfshellin AskReddit

I was a big runner as a toddler. After the entire mall was locked down and searched for me, my parents got me a leash. My leash wasn't like the typical leash in that it went around both my and my mother's wrists, so it wasn't like she was controlling me but more like we were holding hands. I never felt humiliated by my leash, and if I had, my mom would have let me stop wearing it immediately. I called it my special bracelet and I thought it was the coolest thing ever- I was actually pretty upset when my mom told me I didn't need to wear it anymore.

DAE Think SNL was actually fucking funny tonight? by OllieGarkeein DoesAnybodyElse

I haven't seen a show this great in a really long time. The Julian Assange bit and the game show sketch were both hilarious, and of course, Paul McCartney was great. I had to admit, I was a bit wary after they opened with the Vogelchecks, but the rest of the show was fantastic!

DAE Just Say "Thank You" If Someone Offers You a Greeting for a Holiday That's Not Your Own? by UnclePeazin DoesAnybodyElse

[–]sarcasticfrog 0 points1 point ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Look, all I'm saying is that it really isn't that much harder to say 'Happy holidays'. If someone wishes me a merry Christmas, I'm not going to throw a shitstorm or anything- I happily accept the sentiment, as it had good intentions. I'm just frustrated, because this same argument happens every year and I still haven't heard one valid reason for consciously saying 'Merry Christmas' over 'Happy holidays'.

The number of people celebrating a religious or cultural holiday does not affect its legitimacy or validity.

I'll wish them a happy holidays in return. There isn't anything wrong with giving a 'well intentioned greeting'- the problem is that when someone says 'Merry Christmas', they are asserting on some level that Christmas is more legitimate. For the most part, using a blanket greeting like 'Happy holidays' achieves the same purpose as 'Merry Christmas' while including everybody, rather than highlighting a single religion.

There's certainly something contradictory about her statements. Also, I don't like how she says 'I'm a senior citizen' as if that somehow exempts her from the rules. On a different note, 'octogenarian' is a great word.

"Fox News North" is back trying to make Canada pay for poisonous media,Give Us a Choice! by toyotabedzrockin progressive

Television providers offer channels as part of a package. I've inadvertently purchased channels I didn't want while buying a package that has many that I did want and watch all the time- it's just the way that things work. While I don't want Fox News in Canada, there are probably lots of people that would like a more conservative platform (other than the National Post, of course). If the petition were to succeed, it would have done nothing but silence a viewpoint. Let people watch what they want to watch.

Is is unusual to pull my eyelashes out? by swirlloopin Trichsters

[–]sarcasticfrog 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I had always pulled from my eyelashes, but I had a particularly bad episode a few days before 8th grade graduation. I had pulled from the middle, but left the sides untouched (mostly because they were too hard to pull out). It was extremely obvious and very embarrassing, and what prompted me to try going to a psychologist again. She told me that it was one of the most common areas, which made me feel a bit better about it.

Vegetable oil worked really well when my dog got stuck in flypaper, so it will probably work for your kitten. Just be careful to wash it all out afterwards. Good luck!
