This is what we have been waiting for; DayZ: sandbox zombie survival game, with all the tension of STALKER. by Flame_US3rin stalker

[–]rgowen -1 points0 points ago

filled with douchebags that'll shoot you for your precious beans.

As one of those douchebags, I can say that being one of those douchebags is best part of the game for me. Maybe I'm just a sadist, but I got bored with pure survival after a few days. Yeah, it was cool, but not as fun as stalking another human being through Chernogorsk and then cornering them like a rabbit.

What does MFA think of this jacket? by tylrat93in malefashionadvice

[–]rgowen 0 points1 point ago*

Perhaps "tailoring" was the wrong word. I didn't mean buying a YesStyle jacket and having somebody tailor it for you. I meant if somebody were to make a similarly styled jacket out of worthwhile material for a specific person. Obviously there's lighting tricks going on as you say but I'm mostly wondering about the fit.
EDIT: I should also clarify that the hypothetical person I'm speaking of here is in decent shape, unlike the skinny nerds in this pic.

I think the funniest thing about this image is that it keeps getting added to as more and more and more people discover how poorly the jackets fit.

I've known this to be true, but at the same time I've always wondered - could similar results be achieved if it was tailored specifically for the wearer?

Food Stamps for Starbucks? by [deleted]in Eugene

[–]rgowen -1 points0 points ago

no candy

You sure about that? As I mentioned a post a bit below yours, I work at Walgreens. We have people regularly buy candy with EBT. One particular instance stands out: back during Christmas time, one guy bought $50 worth of cherry cordials chocolates on his EBT card.

It's definitely a broken system. I work for Walgreens and we have regular people who come in and buy the most ridiculous things with EBT - candy, soft drinks, Rockstar, etc. The worst people are the ones that bitch at us because the energy drink they want isn't in the EBT program and act like it's our problem.

I just don't want to spend a lot of time reading through all this if it turns out to be fake or untrue.

Please do this as soon as possible. This sounds like a very interesting story but I honestly don't want to waste my time if it's fake.

ASIO4ALL Export Issues (Help) by mhwtin FL_Studio

[–]rgowen 1 point2 points ago

The doesn't really fix the problem, but it's a viable workaround - I've given up using the exporter because I've had way too many problems with it. Instead I slap Edison on the master track and just hit record. Yeah, you have to listen to it while it records but the end result WAV is always exactly what you're hearing.

Actually, my college bookstore has a buyback program at the end of term, so I'll just sell it to them when I'm done with it. :D

Had I bought this from the bookstore at my college I would've been out about $100, even for a used copy. I was randomly in Goodwill after class one day and found this is in the books section. Can't beat it.

My humi came in today! In the process of seasoning it now! by BioTigerin cigars

[–]rgowen 2 points3 points ago

Give him a break. I have a very cheap humidor, similar to that one. It keeps my cigars humidified just fine. Who cares if it's cheap as long it works?

Did you hit up Leaf & Bean at all? Cool little shop in Pittsburgh's Strip District.

I've only ever ordered from CI and I got one of these. It's them.

No harmonic value? by HangingGardenin musictheory

[–]rgowen 0 points1 point ago

What context is the term being used in?
My best guess is that it's referring to something like passing or neighbor tones that are merely melodic and don't contribute to the underlying harmony.

Isn't defacing US currency a crime? Or is this all just a big joke?

J.C. Penney gets rid of hundreds of sales by r3y1a1nin Frugal

[–]rgowen 9 points10 points ago

I never claimed that they were selling them to me at a loss, nor did they. The cost to them is probably less than half of what I paid for them. That's not the issue here.
The cost to me was $15.00 less than the "non-sale" price, making them cheaper than competing stores in town. I don't buy things just because they're on sale; I actually needed the jeans and Kohl's had them at the cheapest retail price I could find.
