(Spoiler ASOS) Robb Stark by oregenoin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast -1 points0 points ago

he 100% is an oathbreaker. Robb was an idiot, a foolish boy who went with his dick over his head. Frey men fought and died on the promise their house would be joined to the starks. They gave their word, and he did not. I would also be royally pissed

I hope they do. (Spoiler Book 1 and Season 1) by KookyGuyin gameofthrones

Sweet summer child. When did the hero ever win?

Whenever "The Drowned God" is mentioned, I can't help but picture him. (New to this subreddit so sorry if repost) by NittanyLionInLAin gameofthrones

GRRM has confirmed that the drowned god is a reference to cthulhu

(SPOILERS ALL) Am I the only one who has found Dany consistently and insufferably annoying? by itsyoursnowin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

That's not true, there are a ton of old valarian families living in voltanis and new ghis. It was the targaryens that had the last of the dragons, they weren't the last royal family.

The targaryens never rules valaryia, how is it her birthright

Her entire argument is that her crown was unjustly usurped...yet in terms of usurpers, she is clearly leading the pack

Every day I log into r/asoiaf and tower of the hand and westeros.org so I can continue to live in the world GRRM created. It's truly hellish knowing I won't know the conclusion until i'm well into my 30s

[Spoilers ACOK-Very Mild] Why do the other kingdoms tolerate the Ironborn? by germanchin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 2 points3 points ago

For the same reason a king doesn't declare every keep in the land his own personal keep: it is far too hard to control. The targ's allowed the lannisters and the starks to keep their own holdings, because the lords of these castles controlled large areas already. By controlling only two lords, the king had control over huge pieces of land. The same goes for the ironborn: their unique culture recognizes strength alone and kicking the greyjoys off of their seat of power would have assured the other houses sworn to the greyjoys would all war with each other to get that seat for themselves. They are tolerated because of the power and respect they command from their vassals.

Just a simple poster I made of the four main houses. by st3v3nin gameofthrones

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

There are 9 great houses: Tragaryen, Tully, Tyrell, Baratheon, Stark, Martell, Arryn, Lannister, Greyjoy

(Spoiler ASOS) WHAT by MrUmibozuin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

Caitlyn was a blinded mother who just wanted her family back. Think about it: Ned, dead. Bran and Rickon, dead. Arya, dead. Sansa, pretty much dead if she didn't do something, and hadn't seen her in over a year.

(and also i'm aware lots of starks on this list aren't dead but lady stark had heard otherwise.)

(Spoiler ASOS) WHAT by MrUmibozuin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

Robb was an idiot for betraying a bitter old man who led one of the largest forces in westeros

(Spoiler and Speculation ALL) A Theory about Jon Snow by blahdeBLahin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

You have to remember that GRRM doesn't just spring suprises on us (with the exception of little aegon). All the twists in the book and all the major plot points are foreshadowed so as to make re-reads just that more impressive. So I don't think this could be true, GRRM wouldn't just spring it on us

Game Of Thrones On Track To Be Most Pirated Show Of 2012; Pirates Still Asking HBO For Legitimate Options by nomdewebin technology

[–]ranniskurast -1 points0 points ago

Legit option? BUY THE DVD.

HBO makes money of subscriptions, they don't really give a damn about ratings. They make good shows so people pay good money to stay subscribed.

In new zealand we play 'Centurion'. It has the same rules as the power hour except you do 1 shot per minute for 100 minutes.

I have done a few double centurions and they're insane. You can also make things torturous by banning bathroom breaks until 50 shots in.

They were to fight the Fire-Ants, the so called tyrants of the 5th Realm, the ruling noble house of the planet the small folk call ‘The Smoking Sands’. Its true name was Heim, and the planet was a desert from tip to tip, with the exception of the ice caps at the poles.

How advanced was Valyria? by PolarBear89in asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 2 points3 points ago

The Valyrians were simple sheep herders until they discovered dragons and magic. They used their magic with reckless abandon, eventually causing the Doom. So i'd say they were very, very advanced. So advanced the world needed them gone so that others could thrive after them.

Can someone explain the balance of power between Joffrey, Cersei, and Tyrion (TV Show)? by Oppo28in gameofthrones

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

It's exactly as Varys said: Power resides where men believe it to reside. They all think they have absolute control over each other, where as in actual fact it is the men they use that will decide the fates of the other two.

Ya, its kinda like that. by The_Batman_irlin atheism

[–]ranniskurast 0 points1 point ago

This was the biggest tangent response ever. You really wasted a lot of time with all of this 'research'. Of course christianity was derived from judaism, what I was trying to say is that according to the New Testament, Jesus would actively disobey jewish law and religious teachings. This is because those things do not matter according to the new testament, instead what is important is love, compassion, and forgiveness

Christian who went to a catholic school here.

I've been taught my entire life that the bible is not the whole point, it's the pre-text, story of the journey that our people took to the faith we have now. The old testament is just that: the old testament. We are Christians and follow Christ, not the jewish teachings of old. Christ really only had one message, and that was forgiveness. That's it. THE point of the whole bible is forgive your neighbor. It pains me to see my fellow Christians taking stupid lines from the old testament, something that belongs to the jewish faith and not ours, and basing whole non-christian beliefs around them

(Spoilers All) What's the most beautiful moment in the series? by ZuMetalin asoiaf

[–]ranniskurast 1 point2 points ago

For me, it was the RW Only because I did NOT see it coming, even in the slightest.

I thought it was beautiful how ONE LINE caused so much emotion, I had to re-read it 10-20 times to make sure I hadn't read it wrong:

Spoiler

I will never forget. Thanks GRRM
