The quality of the sound coming out of my S5's Band & Olfsun sound system is terrible. by m6hurricanein Audi

Playing through the SD card may yield the same data error results. Use a CD. It is a different format, and much more pure, from an audio perspective.

But this isn't a hypothetical situation. This woman really did go to jail for smuggling drugs with no violent provocation. Hypothetical scenarios are not worth forming an opinion for, as they are fantasy. Without the gravity of reality, our opinions are untethered and unrealistic. Link an article to a real story like the one you are describing, and I'll have an opinion. But commenting on hypothetical scenarios is best left to science-fiction writers.

[spotted] Orange Aventador took the Handicap spot in my apartment garage by jamiller420in cars

[–]pefyeah 0 points1 point ago

It's only a crime if it's on a public street. A parking lot is private property and not subject to the laws of traffic. Handicap parking spots on private property are usually the domain of the ADA in terms of zoning issues. But as far as Johnny Law goes, he can't ticket them.

Still, make sure the volume is all the way up on the iPod. Play a CD through the stereo and make sure it isn't the speakers or head unit.

But the cartels weren't torturing her family. You can't make up a scenario and pepper it with your own made up facts to bolster your argument. We aren't talking about what could possibly happen. We're talking about what did happen.

alternative to beef stew on a summer day? by zhifacein Cooking

French onion soup. Change it up and do a Normandy style soup with chicken stock instead of beef, and a little sparkling cider.

But that's a different scenario than the one in the OP's article. That scenario is irrelevant. I could ask you, "what kind of omelette would you make if you only had one egg?" But it doesn't matter. This woman wasn't pressured by violence. So it doesn't matter what I think about that type of scenario. My opinion was of this woman's case. She wasn't pressured by the cartels, and she chose to be a mule. She is guilty.

Why? Was that the case for this lady? It doesn't say that anywhere in the article posted. In fact, it said she had very little connection to the higher-ups.

What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

Depends on the round, the silencer, and the barrel. There are silencers that can almost completely baffle a shot, but most just quiet the blast a little.

I was assuming the position that the body existed, but "person" no longer does. That, of course, is a whole other spiritual or socialogical debate, but I was just making an analogy.

The two are mutually exclusive. Her crime can't be victimless at any point if there is a victim at some point. It's misleading phrasing by the author. That's why my murder example is so ridiculous.

But the hard drug trade can be compared to child pornography. Not in a sexual or perverted way, but where do you think those drugs come from? The people that make them are slaves. The survivors or terrible tragedies upon humanity that are made, at gunpoint, to produce the product sold by the cartels. Their lives are stripped from them and they are forced to survive as tortured livestock. Many of them small children. Most of the women are raped before being disposed of in theatrical fashion. The fate these people suffer is certainly comparable to the evils of the child pornography trade. The average drug user is just much more removed from the horror than the child pornographer. And don't forget that there are thousands more involved in drug manufacture slavery than child pornography.

If you read about the Mexican Cartels, know of their practices, and make a conscious decision to do business with them, then you are certainly complicit in the violence that they are guilty of. Just like this woman did.

It's a pointless distinction. 10 minutes after killing someone, a murder's crime is victimless because the victim technically no longer exists. if at any point, a criminal decides to partake in a crime, they attach themselves to every facet of the crime; whether or not they are willing or even aware. To say her crime is "victimless at the time" neglects the fact that it wasn't victimless at other times. This woman wasn't making pot brownies for a hippie commune. She was smuggling cocaine! Everybody is well aware of the distinction and the inherent evils that accompany the cocaine trade.

What about the kids killed on the streets during territorial drug wars. That was certainly forced upon them.

But murder is forced upon unwilling bystanders in the drug trade. We aren't talking about drug users as victims, its the innocent bystanders that are of concern.

But this woman was complicit in the violent repercussions simply by her agreement to be a part of this chain. If someone kills some for their possession, and sells it to you in a case where you are aware of the murder that took place to obtain the item, then you are part of the violence, not an innocent bystander. This woman knew what goes on in the drug trade, and was not innocent of it's crimes against her fellow man.

The state of Texas requires bars and restaurants to scratch off and destroy the labels on empty liquor bottles before disposing of them to stop people from refilling them and reselling them. The TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) checks bars trash regularly to ensure that this is done. Texas sucks.

Hi America, why are your homes made from wood? by TED_666in DIY

[–]pefyeah -1 points0 points ago

The simple answer is that wood stands up to the constantly changing environmental conditions that exist in much of America. The temperature, humidity, weather, and seismic changes require a flexible frame. Stone and concrete structures can often be destroyed by nature's work. Wood bends. Concrete and stone are more popular in more temperate and stable areas, like the southwest. The weather is much more mild and consistent in Europe as a result of it's location at the tail of the Gulf Stream.

MANY cows died for this gorgeous interior. Almost entirely leather or suede. Looked great, felt better, smelled fantastic. Aston Martin DB9. by SisterSledge2in Autos

[–]pefyeah 0 points1 point ago

There's fewer cows killed than you may think. In high end interiors, uniformity is the name of the game. They use one cow that has a perfect hide, and cut perfectly so as not to waste any, and keep up the consistency lost when using more than one cow's hide. Cheap interiors, on the other hand, can get away with using smaller scraps from lots of hides because the flaws are covered with dye and leather treatment.

I'm building a new kitchen. What appliances should I get? by spiffturkin Cooking

[–]pefyeah 0 points1 point ago

Most electric ranges are still the coil type. Glass top electrics, and induction burners with glass tops, can be fragile and crack. An expensive repair. Induction burners are good, but they can be difficult for the novice cook to work with, costly to repair and maintain, unable to use all mediums of cookware, and sometimes too responsive and touchy with heat application. Gas is overall the clear winner.
