I'm just curious what city are are you in? The buffalo NY craigslist seems to suck for decent quality bikes

Most people are selling their Walmart quality bikes or their barn fresh 80s steel schwinn it's Good if you want a beater or restoration project. I'll keep an eye out for a bit longer before getting a new one

No way! What was the tour that you did? I wanted to get to mile marker 15 but that would have added 20 miles to this ride so I settled for taking a pic at the next mile marker so I wouldn't forget about it. How serendipitous!

Just yesterday I saw a family ahead of me on the multi-use path. Mom and son had just finished crossing the path. Dad and daughter were in the walking lane. I slowed down because I knew the daughter was going to cut in front of me to get to mommy and she did. Had I not slowed down I would have hit the kid, or had to swerve to avoid her.

Should I just run the kid over and tell Dad sorry, you should get a leash for your kid?

I assumed the carbon rear would help absorb some minor road vibrations compared to the all alloy. But yeah, 100 more towards wheels would be a nice budget adjustment

What event was this? just curious...

With a shoulder that wide, how could cyclists cause a traffic jam? what could you do to make that safer? I would feel totally safe on that shoulder as is.

Next time plan on stopping so unclip before the dog jumps out at you. Stop and talk to the people. Tell them you will call the cops / animal control the next time you see them with the dog off leash... or just be prepared to stop / ride off the path to avoid the dog

People are retarded. The other day I was riding on a path, saw 2 girls with a dog. I assumed they saw me coming because the girls moved over. However the dog decided he would pull on his leash and lunge at me. Well the girl had the nerve to tell me to watch out for her dog... WHO WAS ON A LEASH UNDER HER CONTROL!

It depends on what I'm doing. An easy recovery ride, I'll wave or nod back. In the middle of sprints or a high tempo ride? I'm using all my brain power thinking pedal pedal pedal watch out for that car up ahead watch out for that family I better slow down cus that kid is going to cut me off. I don't have time to wave back sorry

This is the Erie Canal 3 miles outside of Lockport, NY.

The old towpath is a pretty compact gravel surface, fine for a road bike with 25mm wide tires. It does slow you down a few mph, but the scenery makes up for it.

Yeah, I hope he wakes up soon. I always hate approaching intersections where a car is waiting to turn left. I never know if they are going to cut me off.

Any more info on what happened? The slant from that article is that he was wearing ear buds and not wearing a helmet, and weaving in and out of traffic...
