Ah well seitan's tricky initially. My mum makes it for me, but there are plenty of recipes and methods on youtube.

Idea for meet-up: Star Gazing? by Globviousin brisbane

[–]nadieefish 3 points4 points ago

I'm really surprised no one's mentioned the transit of Venus on the 5th/6th June. I have already made plans to stargaze then with my friend, but if more redditors are up for it, then my friend and I will consider holding an event in Brisbane specifically for this meet-up. Keen?

Is there a place similar to this that's open to the public? The Gold Coast has plenty, but I've yet to hear of any in Brisbane.

It's much cheaper to make wheat meat. The difficulty is finding vital wheat gluten but if you ask the sales assistant in an Asian grocery store, they might have some. If not, have a look at some whole-foods stores like Flannery's.

There are only two Beatles now: Paul McCartney, who's surpassed the age which was fondly celebrated in "When I'm Sixty-Four", is sixty-nine; Ringo is seventy-one. To think, the quartet that wrote songs that a generation beyond theirs can relate to, and that also inspired a myriad of other musical acts, will be another breaking news story that causes you to stop eating your breakfast when they say that all the Beatles are gone.

I don't know how long the media can keep airing tributes for great musicians and call them great, before the shitty ones like Chris Brown or Katy Perry die. This sounds incredibly harsh, but the pop-culture that's current in our society doesn't exactly encourage people to think beyond the surface.

I was moved by this text, but then my mood changed to sadness/depression upon finding out Asimov died two years before I was born.

I just want you to know that I saved this post. Asimov's text numbed my mind and you just cleared it up for me ...but your clarified interpretation of the text then blew my mind again. Thank you, though.

That's the same kind of sentiment I get when I look up at night and see a clear and starry sky. We ponder and imagine about how it'll be like when we reach Venus, Andromeda or Enceladus, but that's how it'll always be for the rest of our lifetimes, a guessing game. It's such a weird, sticking feeling when I think about it. In literary works, looking up at the sky is something so deep, profound and romanticised, but it makes sense. We long for something we will never, ever reach for as long as you or I shall breathe.

That's how I feel about it, but I intended for people to share their own memories/date stories in Brisbane and places they found enjoyable. How about you, what's your great date story in Brisbane?

You're wonderful, seriously. The night bike ride plan is fantastic and it's something I never really thought about til now, but it's so cool I think I might do that next week.

Thank you!

No, I haven't been on a date there before, I've just been told it's a decent spot.

Ah, that's because I've never heard it being used as a setting for a date.

This is my 3 month old furry friend Bruce! He had his second vaccination yesterday and spent most of today sleeping. Photo is from when we adopted him a month ago. by nadieefishin cats

[–]nadieefish[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thank you. A week before we adopted him, a cat we adopted from the pound had FIP and had to be euthanised. So, in a way, Bruce is our special boy. I don't know how I would have coped without him.
