Jays, she sure is a miserable, racist, misandrist prick isn't she?

2012 vs. 1984: Young adults really do have it harder today by ichthisin canada

Would it be an overly cynical point of view to suggest that university graduates will have higher levels of debt and therefore be more likely to stay in any given job, and avoid the risks of leaving for something better?

Anyone know of good artists in Dublin? by _AliBabain tattoos

[–]my_walls 0 points1 point ago

I've heard good things about this Remis guy, but I haven't been into him (I'm still getting tattoos in Belfast, just because I'm familiar with and like the artist). A friend of mine has got a Greek bust on his forearm by him and it's amazing.

Unfortunately that's only the Loveless stream, not the EPs 88-91.

Hello, Saturday nights in Belfast.

My band put some roughs up finally! Any comments? by freegrizzlybearridesin WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]my_walls 1 point2 points ago

This is nice work, and I'm not into ska personally. Definitely has personality I like, and doesn't sound like overly polished/soulless ska/punk which is what I was worried about. So yes, am looking forward to hear a more polished mix, but hopefully not so polished it loses personality. Good luck!

How to grow Facebook fan page likes? by cavity_creepsin WeAreTheMusicMakers

Never played a show like this in my life. No bands I know play shows like this. I know people who are involved in booking gigs from small local shows all the way up to international touring bands, and none of them care about Facebook likes, or Facebook invitees. Anyone who thinks that such things are important are clearly very, very naive, and would be best to stay clear of. Do you genuinely think that a promoter that considers raw number of Facebook invitees to have their head screwed on? Do you think they could do a better job than you promoting the gig yourself?

I would never, ever deal with such an unprofessional and dim witted promoter again.

Syncopated snare - Longtime songwriter, not a drummer. Please illuminate me! by goneharoldingin Songwriters

[–]my_walls 0 points1 point ago

I wouldn't say that snare is syncopated in any way shape or form. That's straight up 4/4 backbeat. Can you maybe include an example of both types of beat you're talking about?

I belief that interval training is a good way to increase your speed. I did some marathon training a few years ago (far from an expert) and it included fartlek sessions to improve race times.

Hey /r/Ireland, I just got a job offer in your country! by klavierwerkein ireland

[–]my_walls 0 points1 point ago

It's worse even when you realise things that are specific to just really small areas of the island. Say, post relocation I say "Fuck, I'm really scundered with this bar." and everyone just looks at me like I've two heads.

Hey /r/Ireland, I just got a job offer in your country! by klavierwerkein ireland

[–]my_walls 7 points8 points ago

It's really made out to be much worse than it is (I'm from the north but currently live in Dublin). You are literally not going to get into any trouble, unless you go to, say, a particularly bad area in Belfast, but it's just as dangerous being in a particularly bad area in Dublin, and as bad as being in a bad area in any other city really. The main difference you'll really experience as a foreigner is the currency: the north uses pounds sterling (like in England), as opposed to the euro which is used in the republic. You should definitely visit Belfast when you're so close!

Forming - Amateur: Short lo-fi/garage EP I made, free download, hope you enjoy! by my_wallsin lofi

[–]my_walls[S] 0 points1 point ago

Recorded it myself! Been kind of amassing some gear for the past few months, and I've got a rehearsal space near me that I recorded in, just kind of learning as I go. I think my songwriting, singing, drumming and production skills are all equally shitty at the minute, so I'm aiming for them to all grow at the same rate. Just curious, what age are you? And you got any good recommendations on bands, what do you listen to?

Yeah bit of a jump! But it means I've got one hell of a history of making some crazy ass sonic shit, I think it'll all come full circle at some point. Maybe. Ah that's cool! Yeah, on the Forming stuff I put the vocals through a cassette deck at really high volume, that was fun. You ever consider putting together a longer release? Was listening through a lot of your stuff today and I was thinking like, if there was maybe 8-10 tracks assembled in a bit of a cohesive way I think it'd be great, and it would be something I'd sit down and listen to (I find EPs and singles and stuff too short to listen to, I like a good 20 minutes of listening ha).

I don't gig either! This recording was just me. I've spent the past few years playing guitar in like...slow, heavy bands (this was the last thing I did before this) and so I've been like...trying to learn to sing and write upbeat songs and stuff for the past 9 or 10 months now, it's been fun. I'm gonna start playing with friends soon too. What effects do you use on your vocals? There's a kind of resonance there I really like.

Oh, just realised you're Perfect Hair Forever, your stuff is deadly. I was actually looking at your submissions a while back to see good subs to post to. Do you gig your stuff? You getting much response? I'm trying to figure out good blogs to post to but I'm not really sure for lo-fi/garage-y stuff. Any good recommendations?

Oh, and was reading through your posts, you say you dislike your voice, everyone feels like that: your voice is awesome! Sounds like Youth Lagoon which is just amazing.
