Please don't go anywhere near a highway if you're that worried about a little cigarette smoke. I understand why smoking would be banned inside and in small spaces, it's unpleasant if you don't want to be around it. Bit think, what effects YOUR health more as a non smoker, that one cigarette 20 feet down the street or that UPS truck idling next to you?

idlevoid, would you like to be my reddit nemesis? I would love some casual back and forth trolling with a reddit nemesis.

It's actually "okay".

It's actually an initialism. EDIT: Wow, really? You initially said a "useless set of acronyms" and when I point out that it's actually an initialism you ninja edit it to cover your ass? You must be really insecure about this. I feel like I just fried a grammar Nazi in his own oven.

Haha, I'd rather not say. It's a pretty damn good school and I'd rather not sully our reputation. It was more a joke than an insightful comment about syntax.

And all this semester I've been wondering why I've been doing poorly in my syntax class...

Many people choose to apply this rule to spoken language as well so that's what I was referring to. I understand that there are different levels of discourse but people abuse this particular rule to sound educated.

I actually brought two friends to the last show I went to. They're not big metalheads and have never been to a show and they were both sold. It's really fun introducing people to the genre.

I came across this ad today. Seems legit. by Boredinillinoisin linguistics

I love how all these ads have "one sneaky secret" or "one neat trick" or "one weird tip" in everything from weight loss to teeth whitening to male enhancement (and apparently now linguistics). Something about one little secret you don't know happens to amazingly solve your problem in so many ways.

Obviously I'm not in the music industry, just a fan. So yeah this is the opinion of 1 metalhead with no experience in the matter, thanks for illuminating me. And to be clear I do buy albums and make sure to support my favorite bands, but I would be lying if I said I didn't download music.

I just make sure to buy a tshirt at every show I go to, thats where I hear (at least smaller acts) get the most money. Also they probably made more money off of the ticket you purchased than if you bought the album. Also if you download music it's much easier to get into a band to the point where you would be spending money on them. In the long run, I honestly think it helps (metal) bands because it plants a seed that can grow into a money tree. Or maybe I'm just justifying my own downloading habits.
