I am JonTron, creator of the YouTube show of the same name! AMA :D by JonTronShowin IAmA

[–]loller 0 points1 point ago

There is a way...you know...that you could thank us...Mr. Big YouTube Star.

Which I totally predicted would happen. The majority of the people doing videos about video games fall into two categories: knows a lot about video games, or has a funny personality. You, AVGN and not many others manage to fit into both.

My PC is still a AM2 dualcore at the moment and it doesn't lag that much.

Creator of a cheesy, awful joke, then goes on to direct BBT. Makes sense.

What the hell is wrong with my post? I do a lot more than just thank them, I treat them like a regular person. You know exactly the type of behavior we're talking about, the type that completely defines separate classes, ignoring them and treating them like they are just completely beneath you.

There is a distinct difference in the way they're treated. Mock it all you want, but it exists.

They're staged in the sense that the artists are chosen, questions are scripted, and where the host decides to do his cheesy walk while talking are staged. But if you'll re-read the thread title, you'll notice the show is titled "The Sound Stage".

Jonathan Alpart has been a fan of Chinese music since he studied in Beijing in 2007. He enjoys singing, and playing guitar and the drums in his free time, and he wants to get China's newest music heard by the world. He hopes more people can enjoy Chinese music and learn more about China.

That seems written by a Chinese person. If it were written by him, Panjialang doesn't seem cheesy enough to match it. Though, he does talk about music a lot.

Yeah, I'd be curious to know. Seems pretty cheap. I also usually do dental work in the Philippines but would like to find a decent option here that isn't ridiculously overpriced.

Yantai has a pretty big engineering market. My initial assumption was visiting a factory because it's short-term.

My (foreign) friend was attacked with a brick by a random Chinese man. The authorities did nothing? by fidelityin China

[–]loller 3 points4 points ago

I was walking down a busy back road listening to my iPod when I spot this old man (80+) who had stopped his youthful gallop to give me a death stare. He then uses the last remnants of his strength to lift his cane up slowly, timing it so that by the time that I reached him, he had managed to lift his cane high enough to thwack me on the head. It was more like he dropped it on me though.

BUT GIVEN THAT I'M A HARDCORE NIGGA STRAIGHT FROM HARLEM, I CURB STOMPED THAT SENILE MO'FUCKA.*

*Or shrugged at the other guy who witnessed it and kept on walking.

It fulfills every atom of my being to know that I'm saving China, one poor waiter at a time. I'm not the hero China wants, I'm the hero China needs.

Chinese couple bury woman alive, sparking outrage by tipotterin China

[–]loller 2 points3 points ago

I don't think a waitress will be particularly offended by a snapping old man who thinks he's hot shit, not nearly as much as someone new to China would anyway, but I still think they'd appreciate being treated like a human being and hearing "谢谢你" once in a while.

I'm generally pretty nice to staff in general, especially if they do their job well, and I notice genuinely happy reactions when they feel that my "thanks" isn't simply a conditioned response.

I think some of these so-called polite mannerisms are culturally conditioned, but I don't think that wanting some respect isn't. And if it is, then that's a damn shame for China.

[–]loller -4 points-3 points ago

Given that there were a few comments saying that they don't need to learn anything from the French, immediately discounting any potential cultural differences, was my reason for it.

And the fact that there's a lot of stereotypical anti-French sentiment in general on Reddit.

David Letterman Interviews Conan (17/05/2012) by funkyosin conan

Good stuff. I've been waiting a long time for this interview.

The first time I ever saw Bieber was on Conan. To hear a behind the scenes story of him being a tool is amusing as well.

I started reading the article and could see where it was going, trying to paint American women as quaint, Puritanical prudes while glorifying his French escapades with allegedly more sexually liberated women.

But then I read the entire thing, and while there are some aspects I think he's exaggerating for effect, the end that I quoted isn't insane. He's discussing the sexual mores of the US vs. France. Having known many French men and women; there's certainly a stark difference, good and bad. He even mentions the promiscuity double standard and not just to pander.

I come to 2x for insight and debate. I usually just end up with downvotes and disappointment. If people felt so strongly about it, I'd like to see their reasons for it rather than a few "Disgusting!" "Gross!" reactions that add nothing.

And that's why Craig Ferguson is by far the best (Late-)Late-Night-Show host. by JoeRuinsEverythingin videos

[–]loller 0 points1 point ago

I know what you mean. I find his opening stuff too repetitive, like he's doing it out of habit and because people like it. Pointless, stupid things like the string dance. The first time he did it, it was just a goofy thing to do. But the faux-self-deprecation act gets old.

However, his skits are still unbeatable and his natural personality is great. It just means I ignore the monologue.
