Do all your practicing on standard bikes. When they wear down, toss them in a box - you might need a spare card sometime. At $2.00 from any nearby gas station, they are not hard to replenish.

If you like fancy decks, go ahead and use them for shows and maybe even sometimes for self-enjoyment, but don't practice with them unless you are willing to buy them more often. A good fancy deck will last a hella long time if you don't use them for practice.

But fanning powder - I doubt any professional uses it. It feels weird, dries out your hands, and if you breath it, will eventually do nasty things to your lungs. The cost just isn't worth it.
