Evidence by legweedin socialism

Social democracy "works" until it fails! Weird definition of success! That's what the crisis in Europe shows. Social democracy works to save capitalism because that is its goal. It's not socialism, and never was. Capitalism is the rule of the tiny class of corporate owners. Socialism is the ownership and control of a countries productive assets by the people themselves (throught a number of mechanisms). Cuba is an example of socialism that, against enormous odds, is succeeding. But it could be much more successful -- and can't last forever -- unless some richer countries go in the same direction.

Greece: SYRIZA, the Communist Party and the desperate need for a united front by glparramattain socialism

I think the last few paragraphs of the article answer that ...

Greece: There is the left which wants to make capitalism more human, the compromising left (Syriza), and there is the left that favors a break and class struggle (the KKE - Greek Communist Party), which wants the total overthrow of capitalism. For the KKE, these two lefts are irreconcilable. by allliein socialism

The premise that SYRIZA is a party for reformed capitalism is suspect, and misses to point of the radicalising potential of an anti-capitalist coalition taking government: see http://links.org.au/node/2861 KKE sectarianism is helping prevent that dynamic.

Where I come from Marxists are happy to be described as democratic socialists. The term is not 'disingenuous and misleading', it is those who use it and are in fact not democratic or socialist who are disingenuous and misleading. Handing the accurate term over to our enemies is caving in to them.

Wikipedia is wrong. Any crackpot can write it. The idea that capitalist politics has a monopoly on "democratic" is stupid. Whether one's politics is Marxist or not is another question, based on objective analysis, but the concept that reformism = democracy and revolutionism opposes democracy comes straight out of Cold War definitions. Of course, revolutionaries seek to overthrow capitalism by mass [majority] action but they also strive to entrench a thoroughly democratic system under socialism.

Rubbish, a democratic socialist believes that socialism must be democratic. That is not incompatible with Marxism.

"This article so typical of the sectarian and self-harming nature of the left." No, it is typical of the sectarian and self-harming nature of the WSWS. Much of the left recognise the importance of developments in France. See, for example, http://links.org.au/node/2828

His recent success has triggered a wide-ranging discussion on left about left regroupment. All the left groups need to consider lowering their partitions and cooperate more. To what degree is the question.

Communism and Marxism are discussed constantly here, and people here are encouraged to. It has participants from most active socialist, communist and Marxist parties, as well as all sorts of opponents of capitalism. I don't understand your objection.

Kropotkin, in 1919, wrote in prophetic words to the workers of Western Europe about what was going on in Russia: "this effort to build a communist republic on the basis of a strongly centralized state communism under the iron law of party dictatorship is bound to end in failure." by almodozoin socialism

Chomsky is wrong. Plenty of evidence for Lenin's democratic credentials here: http://links.org.au/taxonomy/term/121 Unfortunately too many anarchists echo the ruling class (mainstream academia) mantra that Lenin = Stalin, which has been disproven over and over again. It was Western attacks to destroy the revolution that facilitated the rise of Stailn.
