You aren't citing any "facts" either... saying documentaries are incorrect 100% of the time is hyperbole.

Yes! Let's stop the entire economy by putting a moratorium on any spending that you don't agree with! I forgot you were the arbiter of silly!

Please refer to the past 3 decades of the Republican agenda for said chaos.

Sorry, here comes those pesky facts again: The Bush administration dismantled a large portion of the family planning programs in Africa, and then promoted abstinence only program. This brilliant plan has caused a slight baby boom as well as a spike in AIDS infections.

Why We Should Stop Giving Handouts to Oil & Gas Companies - The fossil fuel business is wrecking our planet, & we're paying them a multibillion dollar bonus to do it. by anutensilin politics

I work in the transportation industry... and I do realize that you can't just switch... thats an absurd notion. I think you may need to re-read what I'm trying to say here. Nobody is saying we can just "switch" to alternative energy and transportation, delivery systems on a dime... but, and I think you know this but are doing your best trying to not admit it for some reason, WE, as a society, in a socialistic way, have to begin working towards those "other" ways.

Sacrifice means people need to move out of the cushy McMansions, start walking, start riding bikes when they can... they need to move closer to their jobs... cities need to begin building better public transport.. industries need to build more efficient delivery systems (see UPS). etc. etc. etc.

It is not as apocalyptic as you are making it out to be.

Not really a straw man... I was directly responding to your argument. Alternatives will never be ready if we aren't working on them, testing them, trying them. As you pointed out, you can't just do a switch. It will take effort, sacrifice (remember that?), money, elbow grease to find the solutions needed to switch the world's energy source.

A combination of alternative energy sources and a well thought out plan on how to do that could do this. All we have to have is the will and focus to do it.

Nobody is saying that... We have to start somewhere to ween ourselves off oil... And this would be a first good step.
