You can watch the eclipse through the inside of a floppy disk. You can also use welding goggles (shade 12 or 14, available at Harbor Freight tools and Sears).

If you're feeling frisky you can use crossed polarizers (take a pair of polarized sunglasses apart and rotate the lenses until they get dark, you'll need two pairs for two eyes). The glasses given out for 3D movies are polarized and you can cut up one paper pair and cross the lenses vertically with the other glasses to make one pair of solar glasses.

You can also use mylar, like those space blankets, but it's tough to find the partially-metallized stuff.
