Why can uniformed police officers legally lie to you?

I understand that lying is not a crime, what I don't understand is why cops can lie about the consequences of your actions. If a cop pulls you over and asks to search, he can lie about going easy on you if anything is found, or about impounding you vehicle if you refuse.

I've always looked at giantbombs 5 star scoring as recommendations.

So instead of arguing how game X is 0.6 better than game Y you can just say they are both good or great games.
