Cops In the Bronx Out of Control by DonDadaChefin videos

No prob - I don't really care about the votes. I did use some ambiguous language. Its nice to know that you see my point :) Thanks.

Cops In the Bronx Out of Control by DonDadaChefin videos

[–]doomglobe 1 point2 points ago

By expected, I don't mean justified. I just mean that if you piss off cops, they will abuse their power and beat the fuck out of you. I think that is a pretty well known fact. If the frame before this showed the guy swinging a golf club at a little girl, I bet a lot of people would change their opinions here. Thing is, the cops would still be out of line.

I am not taking the cops' side. Those cops are out of line. I am just saying that there are some well known ways to cause cops to behave like that.

He may have actually deserved it. We have no context here. It is definitely a violation of his rights, however, and against official police procedure to inflict harm on anyone who isn't resisting/capable of causing harm. But if he did something like throw rocks at them, or rape children, this kind of thing can be expected, regardless of what the law is. I'd like some context before passing judgement.

I got butterflies just watching this kid with balls of steel. by ScopesMcDomein videos

For an example of someone who does know what they are doing, yet takes risks that some would consider unnecessary, look at how this guy did this. I guess he rope-soloed the nose of el capitan later that day (which involves climbing it twice, and is only slightly safer than free soloing). He also set the speed record for el cap, and both climbs take most people three days to complete.

None of us knows this guy. He has obviously practiced gymnastics and climbing extensively, to be able to stick some of those moves is not easy - it takes years of practice. The climbs mostly looked fairly straightforward - 5.8 to 5.10 YDS. The way to determine if he knows the risk is if he is capable of doing the same thing with safety gear. If he has access to a rope and harness and some webbing, and maybe went through those buildering runs with pro once to be sure he could do it, but then decided to free solo for the video - he's someone who knows the risk. If he just saw those buildings while wandering around with a video camera, and decided to climb them arbitrarily, maybe he does not.

Climbit, what is your proudest moment in climbing? by Khellendosin climbing

[–]doomglobe 0 points1 point ago

I climb with someone who is 100+ pounds lighter than me. It is great incentive to not take too many rests, because she comes right off the ground every time I put my weight on the rope. My most embarrassing moment was with her, we were climbing in a gym and decided to clip her into an anchor on the floor so that I wouldn't meet her halfway if I fell (sometimes she comes up to the first bolt just lowering me from the anchor). Anyways we clipped her in with the same biner she was using to belay, and someone who worked there walked by and noticed and I was on the second or third draw and I heard "CLIMBER PLEASE COME DOWN". For those of you who don't know what we did wrong, she had two points of base contact in that biner, so had she stepped to the side, it would have been triaxially loaded, and it easily could have turned full on sideways.

My best moment? EVERY DAY THAT I CLIMB ANYTHING.

If he had given the idiot in front of him more distance, he would have been able to switch lanes and pass on the right. Then the idiot behind him would have hit the idiot in front of him directly, removing the central, meatier idiot from this idiot sandwich.

I see your mind blowing 'yoga girl arm balance' and raise you... well... an even more talented female equilibrist by red1392in videos

[–]doomglobe -4 points-3 points ago

There is some overlap. She didn't learn to do that without practicing some yoga, most likely. But at her level... well lets just say she'd probably get bored in most yoga classes. It isn't common to hear a Vinyasa teacher queue one armed press handstands.

How does yoga treat tall people? by nocitydustherein yoga

[–]doomglobe 2 points3 points ago

6'3" here. I find myself running out of mat sometimes. The main thing about Yoga, though, is that it doesn't really matter if it is harder for you than for someone else. You just do what you can. Nobody is really paying attention to the people who take an extra childs pose if they don't want to take pincha in the middle of the room, or whatever. The only time anyone notices what anyone else is doing is when they don't know what to do themselves (or someone is doing something amazing).

Don't worry about that article. The vast majority of people shouldn't be doing most of the things they do on a daily basis. Yoga is probably going to turn out to be the best thing you do for yourself, aside from survival essentials.

How Yoga Can Wreck Your Body. "My message was that 'Asana is not a panacea or a cure-all. In fact, if you do it with ego or obsession, you'll end up causing problems.' A lot of people don't like to hear that." by jms1225in yoga

[–]doomglobe 9 points10 points ago

You tell a teacher you have an injury, they'll do what they can and offer you and adjustment if they think of it, but they are human, and most likely have just heard a general area of your body that is injured, and not had the opportunity to take a look at your x-rays. You have got to apply some of your own common sense as well. If it hurts you, don't do it. I have never heard of a yoga instructor forcing students to do anything.

Santorum: "They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down and regulations low, that we shouldn't get involved in the bedroom or in cultural issues. That is not how traditional conservatives view the world." by magister0in politics

Why are you people still linking Fox 'News'? Much worse than that, why are you UPVOTING it? If it has something true to say, I am sure it has been reported more responsibly somewhere else. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for finishing that video.

Also, if Fox news is against a republican, they stand no chance. This isn't even an issue, Santorum is not worth your attention.

Don't Break on Black Ice by coffeetablesexin videos

[–]doomglobe -2 points-1 points ago

ABS might work on slightly slippery roads, but if you slam on the breaks, on black ice, they are going to lock up. As soon as your wheels stop spinning, you lose what little control of the friction you once had, and your option to swerve off the road goes away. That option isn't always there, however, and you shouldn't drive at speeds where you can't come to a complete stop before reaching the edge of your visibility. Also, you shouldn't drive on a flat when you have thousand dollar rims.
