Might want to check your facts OP before you post some biased "rusted on Labor voting" BS like this. Turns out more staff are coming forward. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/ipad/more-staff-accuse-peter-slipper/story-fn6bfkm6-1226356740067

Sophie’s ‘good fortune’ to come under the spotlight? by dreddin australia

Thoroughly agree. But lets be honest, opinions like this won't win any favours around the sycophantic rusted-on Labor voters. Let them be. Their fate awaits them.

Thomson's alternative reality didn't fit the facts: The SMH performs a point by point dissection of Thomson's claims. by MeadowbankMujahideenin australia

Most scary part about the whole Thompson saga is that this sort of conduct is absolutely rampant in many other bodies. Time for a Royal Commission.

Jobless rate fell to 4.9%. by ColdandUglyin australia

[–]choppedonions 1 point2 points ago

The rate has dropped because people who were previously looking for work have stopped looking even though they haven't got jobs. As such, the unemployment rate has fallen. This figure is very misleading.

Australia's Federal Budget predicts returns to Surplus, leading developed countries across the globe. by Jonathan-Oin worldnews

[–]choppedonions 0 points1 point ago

What have I revealed of myself? Including the NBN as an asset is a failure in itself. Regardless of political persuasion, in my heart of hearts (and I presume yours also) I know that to call this budget a 'suplus' is a lie. Economics tells me this. Accounting tells me this. Budgetary Practice tells me this. Political spin tells me this. Intuition tells me this.

What this Gentleman/Madam has kindly stated is absolutely correct. As to the National Broadband Network: the program is going to cost somewhere between $AUD40-50 BILLION. It hasn't been accounted for in any Federal Budget's yet, but the money has been borrowed and spent already. So take the $AUD 1.5B surplus, and subtract $AUD40B (lets be conservative), and all of a sudden you have a huge deficit...again.

Not a surplus. Figures were fudged. They failed to include the NBN. If a company had used similar practices when balancing it's own books the directors would be breaching numerous laws. Read: NOT A SURPLUS BUDGET.

After an epic four year legal battle, the Australian High Court has upheld previous rulings that ISP iiNet is not responsible for the copyright infringements of its customers. by nomdewebin worldnews

I think you may need to hark back further to the days of your dear leader and Comrade Gough to appreciate what created the "mess" that Hawke and Keating "cleaned up" (I do concede that they did usher in some very important economic reforms). It is hard to speak Ill of Howard and Constello in terms of economic managment: they repaid astronomical amounts of debt created by Hawke and Keating, guided Australia through the Asian Economic Crisis and left Australia with a huge budgetary surplus and a ginormous future fund. Show me the economists who say that Howard and Costello squandered money. What do we have to show for this now? Nothing. To suggest the GFC has 'screwed' the current Labor government is bollocks. Federal Labor has had a budget surplus ONCE in it's entire history. Once. That's not a coincidence, that's tradition. They are the world heavy weight champions of throwing money around like a drunken salior.

Your arguments are fundamentally flawed. For instance, you state that the Coalition has gotten popular on a platform of two phrases. In response to this I suppose your darling leader's amazing leadership qualities have nothing to do with the popularity of an alternative? Further, the Coalition has been popular since way before both of these issues. And just to drive the point home a little further, the Federal Labor party has delivered a surplus exactly once in it's history. It's little wonder why so many people support a coalition who doesn't piss money up against the wall year in, and year out. Further, Australia has an immigration system in place which is world class. If people wish to arrive on boats and attempt to illegally enter th country then they will be processed accordingly. Noone is suggesting that genuinse refuges won't enter Australia. You are advancing the notion that we simply open the top end and let anybody who wants to come into Australia because at present asylum seekers represent a tiny portion of entrants. This is a truly dangerous precendent to set. With that said, I don't see us agreeing on any of these points, but I respect your right to hold your opinion, as your vote is worth exactly the same as mine.
