I think this is a really good idea, I'll start setting these up

plugging the subreddit is one thing, but i really thing it has to be good enough to draw people in on its own, we need to raise the bar and make this a deserving subreddit, in my opinion.

to add to this, most of the ones you can buy run off 2xAA batteries, the amount of power needed to use el wire is very small ( which is lucky, because you can power your EL Wire contraption all day/night of just a few small batteries. )

Antivirus is shit, there is no good AV out there.

Anti virus won't protect your sorry ass, even the best will never have complete virus definitions and even if they did, are you going to update daily? Not being an idiot with what you download and install Using the web of trust plugin ( WOT ) generally knowing when your on a dodgy website ^ this is better defense

I would argue that buying a mac can indeed be frugal, they have very good resale value, if you need a fast computer ( as i do, working in IT ) a Mac could well be a more frugal choice than a PC, they're also high quality and will last you many years.
