"Fisheries continue to be among the best examples of the tragedy of the commons... Whether or not property rights in ecological resources are the solution to every environmental problem, they are in the case of fisheries." by johnleemkin environment

It's not that it's a common but that it's unregulated.

Instead of attacking people in Iran they ought to have warships attacking fishing ships.

The German elite is discussing the use of force to ensure control over Athens, including the establishment of a protectorate or the deployment of "protection forces". The German austerity dictate is provoking growing popular resistance, which can no longer be suppressed with democratic means. by allliein conspiracy

I think what it means is "German Bankers and the wealthy". In other words, the very rich who lent money to Greece and this is a threat to try to make them pay or be invaded.

I saw a thing about John Corzine a couple of days ago. He lost billions taking European debt with the belief that the EU would pay rather than let them default. Pretty sure it is not just him but also other wealthy and powerful people who would kill everyone in Greece rather than lose their money.

Some people still talk face to face. And when the time comes so many people will be talking about it they won't be able to get them all.

I've never read that figure for marines.

Yes. Only ONE of Michael Vicks dogs had to be killed. The rest of them were rehabilitated.

We should help everyone we can. But at least the people we kill are supposed to be our enemies. These are our friends and we kill them. It's like something out of Blade Runner. Breed them, use them, use them up and kill them. It's mean to them and it makes us evil as well.

I believe more people would try if these dogs were available. Probably a lot of the soldier who worked with them would. And they shouldn't use them if they can't do that. It's wrong and immoral to use them then kill them.

How do redditors vote? by justspinninmywheelsin TheoryOfReddit

[–]alllie 1 point2 points ago

I never downvote reposts because what I have read another person might not have and if I like it I want everyone to get a chance to read it. Also different articles on the same subject might include different information.

I try to go through the first hundred submissions on my new page several times a day. I vote up what I can and don't downvote anything unless it really annoys me. It has gotten to the point that there is so much youtube stuff that I've started avoiding most of it. It takes so much longer to watch a video than to read most articles.

What I am most interested in is what I suspect are paid voters. Employeed by lobbyists who downvote anything that negatively affects a product.

I'd love to have a list of everyone who has downvoted anything on Fukushima. There's a cabal doing that. Also there are other voters protecting certain products. A few or many of them.

I don't think we have any idea of what is going on in North Korea.

During the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which was unpleasant for a few people, most kids got to travel around the country, not working much, singing revolutionary songs and dancing disco. Who would have thunk it.

As a result of the reforms, Chinese society did truly change. People engaged in activities that had been unthinkable only a few years earlier. One of the crazes that swept China in the mid-1980s was disco (disike) dancing and music. http://chineseposters.net/themes/song-dance.php
