For some reason the "All time" Days Destroyed chart does future dates, not past dates for the bottom axis.

Not to mention that good players don't need to use the Tribunal, they just win IP. So who does use the Tribunal? Bad players and bots that know they will get the most desirable output if they auto-punish.

I thought tribunal was being abused so I waited till I finally had a day where the first player that came up was a player in there for only two games reported and no evidence whatsoever that he deserved a ban in one game (had a positive score, chat log had basically little to no chatter) and a 3 and 12 as Kayle in his second game (reported for intentional feeding by two players in both games). I clicked to forgive him and sure enough, did not get IP for that decision.

I honest to God worry that Tribunal is banning some players that never come back and don't deserve the ban.

Exactly, I don't see why people think Riot is in the right on this one. If you can get banned from picking the "wrong items" they should be removed from being purchasable. You shouldn't ban someone for doing something you explicitly let them do in the game you've coded unless they are exploiting something they've been warned not to.

That's not an unpopular opinion, what is unpopular on this subreddit and community as a whole is giving people the benefit of the doubt and taking them at their word that if they have a bonafide problem it isn't their fault. We all know the client is buggy.

No offense, but this still isn't even worth a full ban, IMHO. It's a game, if ranked players are upset that a ranked player is "trying something new" (what if it worked in normal? do you really think the first jungle fizz or AD orianna had a perfect first few games in ranked?) then at the very worst you ban them from ranked only.

I don't know how anyone who looks rationally at the Dan Harmon vs. Chevy Chase spat can come to the conclusion that he didn't need to go. He chews out Chevy in front of his wife and daughter and then posts Chevy's profanity-laced voicemail online for all the fans to hear.

Harmon's got no class and now he knows it.

Is there a slick way to cluster DHCP servers? (2008) by hepddin sysadmin

[–]Yorn 3 points4 points ago

You can do 80/20 and you can actually cluster, too, but honestly, just backup your DHCP servers settings and have a hot backup ready to go. I realize people think DHCP needs to be one of those always accessible things, but if your DHCP server is in a VM, you can just clone it and bring a new one back up when necessary. Alternatively you can rebuild DHCP from settings in about 15 minutes if you know what you are doing.

Clustering would probably be necessary only in a case where you're talking 5k or more employees.

I'm currently compiling some and considering selling them (with other evidence) to the FBI. Once that's done, if they don't pay for exclusivity, I may post a couple of the diagrams online.

EDIT: apparently people believed that.

The Answer is Jobs by TheAtlasin Bitcoin

[–]Yorn 0 points1 point ago

Right now, the only people getting paid full salaries in Bitcoin are the very early adopters (maybe me) and the investors and crew involved in the Pirate Savings and Trust. Unless the Silk Road founders and merchants are profiting massively, I think that's about it.

The funny part here is that you think Pirate Savings and Trust and Silk Road aren't one and the same.

I wonder why he didn't go the same route as what Silk Road does to hide its money and set up a GPUMax clone and/or Pirate Savings and Trust.

Are we purposefully trying to anger the Ron Paul supporters? by terevos2in GaryJohnson

[–]Yorn 1 point2 points ago

I'm working in the Paul campaign and intend to vote for Gary come the general election. That said, I'll never work for a LP general election because:

  1. Not enough money in it to win. (I work pro bono for Paul, but won't work for someone that isn't even likely to break $2 million in fundraising)
  2. Supporters won't lift a finger to get actual work done. In the Paul campaign, its hard enough to get people to phone bank. It sucks, but it has to be done.
  3. Little or no support from national. The LP is notorious for in-fighting. You'd think that would stop come a general election, but it doesn't, things get even more vicious. Also, third party candidate campaign managers aren't really campaign managers, they are just people who sit at a computer posting on Youtube and Facebook.
  4. There's just too much immense pressure against a third party campaign, you have to be smart and sell a third party vote as a "protest vote" not as "My guy could actually win and take this." Be honest with people, a third party votes shows both the major parties that there is something about that third party that appeals to voters, they will then steal ideas from that third party or elect individuals within their own party with those leanings, the next primary cycle. It's just how it works, and we have to be prepared to get off our butts and seize the opportunity to work within the GOP or Dem parties when one of our guys is in there. It doesn't make sense to work on a "campaign" because you can't do this via any current campaign strategies.

If there is anything that I learned while I was in the LP, it's that party loyalty to a party of disloyals (the whole concept of LP purity) is nonsense.

I agree with absolutely everything you said except this one:

He didn't and was so insensitive to it he refused to give the Stormfront monies back

He isn't a racist, why would he give them money back? I'd taunt them with it, alert the media to a scheduled event, and say, "I disagree wholeheartedly with pretty much everything Stormfront stands for, so I am pleased to have spent their donation on X." Where X is some sort of inner-city soup kitchen meet-and-greet in one of the most diverse cities in the US where he provides a meal and then educates people on sound fiscal policy and ending foreign entanglements.

It would have been free press, made him look good, and shamed Stormfront in the process.

What do you think about long term financial planning vs possibility of global economical crisis? by bleakgeekin personalfinance

[–]Yorn 0 points1 point ago

Yes, any survivalist who has a stockpile of food, ever. Ask them what form of currency they will accept in exchange for said food. Ask a farmer if there was no US gov't what they would accept as payment. Little hard to "prove" it because they don't post any request for it now, but absent a gov't they would. Also, I could provide anecdotal evidence that a relative of mine, present in New Orleans post-Katrina, did in fact see silver exchanged for goods, but it would be insufficient. If not, then I posit that my cousin was there and in fact did see evidence of silver coins being used to purchase gasoline.

Britain: 50 policemen raided seven addresses and arrested 6 people for making 'offensive' and 'anti-Semitic' remarks on Facebook by Anonymootedin worldnews

[–]Yorn 0 points1 point ago

Heck, you even need to thank Citizens United for this--it overturned a law that would have allowed book-banning by Congress.

A lot of people don't realize that CU also ensured we still have a political voice 30 days leading up to a primary election and 60 days before a general election. There were some concerns that even YouTube videos critical of a candidate would fall under that category.

The difference is that here in the UK, if you want change you can run in local/national elections.

To be frank, you can't effectively run for office if you are in jail.

Am I the only one furious that the campaign is talking defeat? by scottbrowncreativein ronpaul

No, you're delusional. They are being graceful so they can get a speaking position. Ron Paul on prime time television talking about ending the Fed would be win enough for me.

Read before you downvote: Why is Dr. Paul still asking me to give money to his "Rise for Liberty" money bomb? by kjreid1in ronpaul

[–]Yorn 1 point2 points ago

I have no idea why Benton seemed to ignorantly quote a bunch of MSM numbers on delegates and convention results

If you made me answer, I'd guess Benton is using a "downplay, surprise, hype" strategy where he first downplays the delegates RP has, then in Tampa acts surprised that he has so many, then hypes the impact the liberty/RP movement actually has. This doesn't really benefit the movement, it benefits his hubris.

Put simply, he knows that, at this point, Paul activists are already committed to doing whatever it takes to show up. I wonder sometimes if we shouldn't try to get as many RP delegates as we can to announce they aren't going to Tampa while Benton is still receiving money from the campaign. At the very least it might get him to apology for doing really stupid stuff like this. That is, if he's a good person. A self-centered a-hole would be unapologetic about it, which is all I've ever gotten the impression he and his staff often are.

Thank you, Dr. Paul. by adoptmedrphilin ronpaul

[–]Yorn 2 points3 points ago

I know, it's like the entire RP world is realizing what I knew as soon as he got 3rd in Iowa, he isn't going to win. That said, I've been helping out with the campaign pretty much non-stop off and on and made friends both in the campaign and in liberty PACs all over the nation.

This is a movement, it's not about one man.

What do you think about long term financial planning vs possibility of global economical crisis? by bleakgeekin personalfinance

[–]Yorn -11 points-10 points ago

In the example disaster, Katrina, this didn't happen.

Uh.. really? I'm not sure you can definitively say that just because people didn't report using gold or silver that it "didn't happen". You're asking me for evidence to disprove your non-evidenced assertion. It doesn't work like that.

Historically, when societies collapse (Rome, etc.) the civilization always reverts back to the gold standard. Katrina was what? 5 days at most? Hardly enough time for a barter system to be set up, though some women were selling their bodies for protection and the men with the guns made the rules, even in that short of a timeframe.

Also, for easy evidence of those selling food asking for gold and silver, ask a survivalist who stockpiles a year's worth of food what they'll accept for trade from others for protection/food. If you think this is going to be like the movies or TV where they help you out of the kindness of their own heart, you're entirely mistaken. Though they might help you if you have a good work ethic or can otherwise help them.
