Well I certainly applaud anyone who could get 1480 kittens, but take it from this old kitten rat, I've spent my entire adult life at the pound, and a program like this one can do more harm than good.

If you only buy one type of animal ( and that's all a single purchase of 1480 kittens is going to do for you), you're setting yourself up for reposts down the road. I've seen it a hundred times.

I'm not sure how having single player would stop hackers from emptying your account. Unless you're saying that if you play single player your character is safe from hacking. But if you intended to play off the servers, why would you be using the auction house in the first place? Not to mention it's my understanding that the current hacking going on is only happening in public games. Unless you're talking about other hacking like keylogging and shit. In that case just don't be an idiot about it, get the mobile authenticator, and you won't get hacked.

I guess I just don't mind being minorly inconvenienced in what is otherwise, in my opinion, a fantastic game. (Not that this absolves Blizzard of their fuck ups) I think 80 percent of people who are angry about the only online play would NEVER have played single player. As i'm sure everyone knows, single player characters cannot be played on servers. It's safe to say almost everybody plays Diablo strictly for the online play. Again, this doesn't absolve Blizzard of fuck ups, but people are definitely overreacting. IMHO

Valid points. But FWIW, I believe the RMAH is more than just a money grab.

I mean, obviously, it is a way for them to make money. But there is a little bit more to it than that. By regulating it, they are able to (hopefully?) shut down the diablo item / money buying websites that were so prominent in d2.

And.. tbh.. the AH is a HUGE part of the d3 experience. Most of what d2 was beyond getting to a high level was trading for top gear.

Yes. I think it prevents item duping and item hacking. Because it does. it was made possible in D2 via an exploit in single player, IIRC.

oh come on, not this guys. not this "let's shit on diablo" circlejerk. They have legitimate reasons for always online. The hackers it prevents includes item duping and hacking, which is necessary for a real money auction house and a decent economy. obviously hackers gonna hack, give me a game that hasn't been compromised at one point. They'll fix it and everything will be right eventually.

Am I the only person who liked it? Why is everybody so god damn critical of this game? It's not like Diablo 2 was a shining star of a story either.

I would say all 3 diablos have a decent story line, could be better, but definitely decent. Besides, the story is only relevant through your first character or two. When you think of Diablo 2 do you remember the epic story line or leveling up / getting the most amazing gear / doing meph runs / baal runs / trist runs / dueling / etc.
