just check Amazon and view the copyright page.

I've looked at about 5 different books of his on Amazon, and can't see what you're referring to. Given that all of the books are available on his website under the ShareAlike license from launch, I can't really see what the problem is.

Source on that? I remember downloading his two most recent books a couple of months ago when they first came out, and they're still on the same (remarkably open) CC license.

What's your favourite remix? by libelle156in radiohead

[–]SamHealer 1 point2 points ago

Of the TKOL remixes, I'd have to say Caribou's Little By Little remix. Of the non-TKOL remixes, I'd say Four Tet's Skttrbrain.

Absolutely one of my favourite AFP performances, just perfect.

The other would have to be the Oakland performance of Judge, Jury & Executioner.

I do have to wonder, who puts in the effort to make physical bootlegs like this? I mean, shoving something on a filesharing site is one thing, but this must take some dedication.

Can someone explain why the MegaUpload takedown was horrible? by ctolsenin AskReddit

[–]SamHealer 0 points1 point ago

We should be refocusing our anger at them for fucking up their own good thing (free nearly unlimited high speed cloud) and screwing us over in the process.

Hear, hear. I don't think the fact that they were getting their hands dirty makes or breaks the case, but it's certainly damaged it considerably.

I was under the impression that MU did make an effor to remove stuff too (or at least, the number of times I've seen people complaining about dead links due to infringing material would indicate that).

[–]SamHealer 4 points5 points ago

Didn't op state that copyright holders did request infringing material be deleted and it wasn't, just links to it removed?

Fair point, didn't notice that.

You tube takes down T.V. shows and Movies much faster than Megaupload did.

The same is hardly true for music, though.

How can people be against taking down a site that the majority of it's users are using to watch shit they know is copyrighted?

Because the people complaining are the people who like free copyrighted material.

By the same token, the FBI should be taking down Youtube as well.

Don't get me wrong, Megaupload don't have a leg to stand on in court. But at the same time, under the DMCA, it's up to the copyright holders to report violations. If Megaupload could find them that easy, so can the copyright holders.

And how do you propose they do that? A password-protected zip file labelled "HP2010" is uploaded. Harry Potter film from 2010, or someone's holiday photos?

[–]SamHealer 13 points14 points ago

This is the entire point. SOPA is designed to act globally. Its effects will be felt globally, so the protest should be global. I'm from Britain, and I utterly support this.
