AP Latin: Vergil test, what did you think? by dslicexin latin

[–]PresterJohn-117 2 points3 points ago

Not too bad, I think I understood all the MC passages pretty well, especially the Caesar. The Ovid was the trickiest, and the Tibullus was pretty easy.

I would bet that if you were to see one sentence with the subjunctive mood, and one without it (i.e., with indicative), you would be able to tell which is which. This sentence and the last are your test; which uses the subjunctive?

Reddit, what do you think is a all time classic that every one should read a least once in their life? by daxter99in books

[–]PresterJohn-117 5 points6 points ago

So I'm reading Eyre right now for school (yes, high school student here.) TBQH, I simply do not see the appeal-- it is a great piece of literature, sure, but I don't quite see how it could be included in the company of Gatsby and Mockingbird, two incredible books which I do think every single person ever ought to read.

Could you please explain briefly what the appeal of Jane Eyre is to you and why you think everyone ever should read it? I'm not trying to challenge you, I just feel like I haven't been properly appreciating it and I want to broaden my mind.

Thanks.

I'm not saying that the material on TPB is dangerous, I'm saying that it's illegal. If walmart was selling cocaine then yes it probably should be shut down. Aspirin, not so much.

In fact, you are the one who made a strawman argument. He said "80 point score jump > being member in club". You said "No, 1 question score jump (which isn't 80 points incidentally) < 100 hours of work (which isnt being member in a club incidentally)". A 1 question score jump decidedly is inferior to putting in 100 hours of work, but that is simply not what he said.

I don't know, I heard that they do ranges but the top ranges are more like 2280 - 2350 and then the very best is 2360 - 2400. I mean it wouldn't make much sense for them to say that a 2400 is significantly better than a 2390 since the difference could just be based on that certain version of the test or any other intangible.

Why is this being upvoted so much? It doesn't really accomplish anything considering that all of Reddit already knows how much of a scumbag Santorum is.

If you like the actual scenery but not the tourists, visit Wayne National Forest, which is very close but with less of a beaten path.

being a member in a club

Usually when people are members in clubs, they go to meetings about once a week and that's about it. Being a member in a club (as opposed to, say, founder or president) really isn't that impressive, and this Pixel guy is probably right when he says an 80 point SAT jump trumps it. And an 80 point jump isn't just one question, it could be about five or so.

[–]PresterJohn-117 0 points1 point ago

That's not true.. While they would not like to see you taking the test over and over again, if you were eventually able to get up to a 2400 that would make up for everything

A perfect score alone isn't a sure-fire way school.

That's not what he said... He said

you have a moderate boost of being admitted

Yeah, it's not worth months and months of prep to nab the 800 if you're paying a lot. But I worked my ass off last summer self-studying and got a score in the high 2300's. I regret nothing. Obviously I'm not guaranteed to get in anywhere, but it sure as hell isn't going to hurt.

[–]PresterJohn-117 2 points3 points ago

Would anyone else be interested in a Reddit project of, through voting, developing a collection of Reddit's favorite pictures of America (one for every state)? We could create "Welcome to America" 2.0, an album of fifty high-quality nature pictures set to Copland's "Appalachian Spring". Upvote / orangered if interested.

There is beauty in each of the fifty. They are all pretty. The new quarters, with pictures of national parks / forests in each state, capture this well.

Some are, however, more pretty than others.
