I think calling the MB a wester-backed movement (even if Hitler and Eisenhower had some role in its origins) is pretty untenable.

I think of it more like the Catholic Church(CC) under the dictators in Chile, a widely respected, and by and large respectable acting, group of anti-establishment voices, the kind of group that tends to find itself with a lot of credibility after a (real) regime change. Even though Chile is, in many ways, pretty modern now, abortion is still illegal, because of the CC influence.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that because Mugabe is an Official Enemy of the United States of America, the greatest nation that ever existed and which has never been wrong before, they overstate the risks.

Color me surprised. I never heard of anyone who took the position that food stamps were OK, but OAS/DI and CMS were bad.

The Greeks, though, had a dole, for the poor.

Demosthenes mentions it in On Organization, in a good quote:

In dealing with the sum of money under discussion and the other matters referred to this Assembly, I see no difficulty, men of Athens, in either of two methods: I may attack the officials who assign and distribute the public funds and may thus gain credit with those who regard this system as detrimental to the State, or I may approve and commend the right to receive these doles and so gratify those who are especially in need of them. For neither class has the interest of the State in view, when they approve or complain of the system, but they are prompted respectively by their poverty or their affluence.

You were saying the UN isn't consistent. To be consistent, the war in Israel would have to be like the war in Viet Nam. There are many reasons why it isn't even close.

The North Vietnamese had belligerent's rights, because, among other things, they wore uniforms.

And if they want to force Sony to reveal secret data they have about a cyber-attack pointed at that company, it still has nothing to do with the customer data.

Not a plot hole, more of a continuity error.

CISPA is supposed to be about internet security, instead it is about handing over customer information to the government.

Why is it news that it is also happening in South Korea?

But later I heard the whole bet thing was an urban legend.

By no means were any of the 47, 68, or 73 wars "civil wars."

They involved Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and, in a supporting role, Iraq.

The Pharaohs gave out bread, and beer, to their people.

The Classical Greeks had a dole.

The world economy is spiraling downward and its outcome may match the extent of ww2 in terms of monetary damages

Your comparison doesn't seem valid to me. Zimbabwean hyper-inflation is worse than that experienced by the Weimar Republic, but Zimbabwe is not about to engage in any sort of huge war.

I did compare something bad to the libertarians, and neither you, nor anyone else, has bothered to refute it. Why shouldn't I do so again?
