This is the problem: Ratio of CEO to Average Worker pay, by country. by jaydizzin reddit.com

Dude, I'm sorry for being hostile in my earlier comments.

Chris Gardner is pretty cool. He had a "monthly stipend of $1,000 (which is equal to $2204 in present day value)" and a ferrari when he was 'homeless'. He sacrificed his son's well being for his ambition.

I spent 5 minutes of my day venting about people saying we're all lazy if we're poor. I worked hard, my sister works hard. I picked onions when I was 14 and on for pocket money. I just pointed out those DoL rules because I had to live on my own at 16.

I only made that generalizing statement about CEOs because I was frustrated about your generalized statement of those being in a bad situation being lazy.

I've been reactive. I worked full time from 16 to 19, and attended school full time that whole time. I literally attended college March 17 2003, and started basic training March 18 2003. I've had no break. I got out of the mil, couldn't find a job, so I'm in school now. Absolutely broke but in school.

It's just really frustrating to see that people say we're lazy if we're poor. I've never just cried about my situation. I've always been proactive.

That's my budget. I stated "I'm trying to make it work with this budget for myself: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqPkMD8M6GLadGcxZHl6WFNGOS1GTWxuMC1rdHNGRkE&hl=en_US".

Jobs. Plural.

You were really working full time to support yourself at 15? Because the department of labor states: "Minors age 14 and 15 may work outside school hours in various nonmanufacturing, non-mining, nonhazardous jobs listed by the Secretary in regulations published at 29 CFR Part 570 under the following conditions: no more than three hours on a school day, 18 hours in a school week"

That was my budget after FAFSA. My military income from last year precludes me from more benefits for now. I really tried to stay in school before (the military) but just couldn't pay the bills. I should be good now though, because I'll be getting GI Bill in a few months.

People in the military are running away from responsibility? Wow. Just wow.

Pick a few successful CEOs who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps from the lowest socioeconomic rung. I'd really like to hear about them.

Edit: -typos Also, Chose a job that couldn't sustain itself? We took what jobs we could get. Didn't go to school because the type of jobs available to us, upon which we depended to survive, required us to work swing shifts, rotating schedules, and split shifts.

The non-theists were included in that remaining 15%. 'Energies', 'Auras', 'little invisible elves', it's all the same to me ;).

So, I'll adjust to ~ 70-75% of religious.

She works about 16-17 hours a day. She sleeps about 4 hours a day.

She would love to get an education. Did you know those aren't free in this country?

I'm trying to make it work with this budget for myself: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqPkMD8M6GLadGcxZHl6WFNGOS1GTWxuMC1rdHNGRkE&hl=en_US

She can't use that because of bills acquired from a medical issue. She was working full time when it happened but her job didn't offer insurance.

Don't give me that bullshit about the effort put in to get there. Me and my sister have both been working since we were 16. I was in the military 8 years till I was medically discharged. Most of those CEO's first job was working for their father.

The majority? If there are 3 mutually exclusive systems, 2/3 of them are wrong.

Some rough estimates:

About 55% of the world population ascribes to an Abrahamic religion. Several Imaginary friends.

About 15% of the World population is Hindu. Many imaginary friends.

Approximately 15% is Buddhist, but only a percentage of those believe in reincarnation and other supernatural aspects. 0 to 1 Imaginary friends.

The remaining 15% is divided up among atheism and smaller religions.

So, I think of the ~85% who are 'religious' about 80% include 'imaginary friend(s)'.

What insurance company sells to them!? That seems like way too high risk to be worth it for the insurance company.

If the company is worth more, and the CEO is worth more, why aren't the workers worth more?

It's a ration of CEOs to employees within that same country.

It removes all performance incentive and actual accountability. A CEO who runs his company great gets a shit ton of money. A CEO who destroys his company gets a slightly reduced shit ton of money. Either way they have a shit ton of money. If my choice is between $2 Million and $200 Million either way I could retire immediately and live in luxury without ever working again. There's no reason to not run your bank in to the ground through stupid practices.

Also think of it this way: Is the person in charge actually 20 to 400 TIMES more capable than you? Would 400 of you not be able to do the job of that one person?

Microsoft has one of the lowest compensated boards (Ranging about $5M to $10M per board member per year) and highest paid employee base of any major corp.

Keep in mind the median personal income for full time workers over age 25 in the USA is only about $43K per year. You also have to consider they are probably only considering those CEOs whose companies actually employ the majority of people. Otherwise of they would have to include the income of those who incorporated their corner stores and all those Joes who've declared themselves CEO of 'SUPER COOL MUSIC PRODUCTION LLC' you find in every small town.

Also, I can pretty much live on chili:

  1. Legume (Fiber/Protein/Carbs): Beans
  2. Fruit: Tomatoes
  3. Vegetables: Green Peppers, Onions
  4. Multiple herbs and spices high in nutrients and antioxidants.

I once commented that in all my relationships, the woman turned out to be completely insane. I was looking for sympathy for my ill luck when someone pointed out that "If all of them are crazy, it's you. You are actively seeking out the crazy ones". I never realized this till that person pointed it out.

Anyway, It's become apparent that I would totally date the OP.

"I've only obtained what I have because of other people and luck."

This is actually the case for everyone; most just aren't willing to admit it. Just World Hypothesis.
