The McBean? First I've heard of it... Would McDonald's offering a Vegan Sandwich (not sure if this is) be a good thing...or would it be a bad thing? I'll hang up and listen. by Pugglekyin vegan

Dharma's for a time, but then they went under shortly after. I always thought it was such mean spirited thing to do. If anything McDharma's brought them more publicity and it wasn't like killing the store made them more popular in No. Cal.

And I agree about Asian Rose. :)

Two decades ago there was a popular health food/fast food restaurant in Santa Cruz, CA called "Mc Dharma's." McDonald's buried them in law suits until they finally had to close.

I'm still not ready to forgive.

Can someone recommend my mom some good books? by argh7272in booksuggestions

How about the Poisonwood Bible, The Guernsey Literary Society, or The Secret Life of Bees. Also, Cloud Atlas.

By the way, did she like Still Alice. It's been on my wishlist for a while, but I hesitate because I haven't been in the mood for anything sad.

Mozilla's Open Badges project | by Chris McAvoy by Nielsioin Anarcho_Capitalism

Lot's of great information. I wish there was a transcript. Mr. McAvoy is very knowledgeable but he rambles and mentions, very briefly, a lot of interesting projects.

I don't think they would because I don't think houses would necessitate a thirty year mortgage for people to afford them. I'm not saying humans wouldn't fund long term projects without being forced by state, I just think using the housing market is very problematic.

What fueled the Apollo missions was fear that the soviets would be able to shoot at us from space and for fifty years the state department kept security death grip on space travel.

Then in 2008 a father and son send a cheap camera to weather balloon to take NASA quality photographs, and now, four years later, we have Cameron and Page planning to mine meteors...so was the government a help to science or a hindrance. I think it's clear in this instance that they are a hindrance.

Are you saying the mortgage industry is free of government intervention?

The Jobless Model (Salon.com) - "Although capitalists would prefer we think otherwise, human ingenuity created capitalism—not the other way around." by elephant_sleevesin cooperatives

I'm disappointed in Salon. I thought essays that started with "my opponent strongly believes..." were reserved for internet shock jocks.

The second you don't want to be there any more and are prevented from leaving, you stop being ancap.

Make Chef Chloe's Avocado Pasta. I would serve it with a tomato salad and roasted portobellos, garlic bread....and wine. Those are simple and the pasta and the mushrooms are filling.

If wage slavery exists today and is a voluntary form of slavery

There are no safe words in slavery.

For example, lets say the "company store" was re-instated by someone.

They weren't called the "West Virgina Mine Wars" for their lack of violence.

We do in some instances. You can go to jail for not paying taxes for instance, so if your wages were being garnished to pay taxes or government fines, then yes. Private prisoners are slaves, doing work, like telemarketing, for which they would otherwise earn a wage, so again, that would constitute a wage slave.

I have not heard of anyone being imprisoned for student loans, but you can't discharge those....kind of a grey area.

Of course the US is a failing state that leans much closer to being totalitarian than libertarian, so the question really doesn't apply to the conversation.

Not in a society where there is a debtors prison. The discussion was about an 'An Cap world.'

there are no non-coercive method regarding collections refused.

Non-coercive is not the same as non-violent. A credit rating agency is coercive and complies with the principles.

The dictionary you chose doesn't address the issue of voluntary behavior vs involuntary behavior. A slave, like a chair, does not get a vote in how he/she is used.

Property implies involuntary and involuntary with regard to humans is not a part of a free market world view.

From my perspective you are warping the definition of slavery. If it's voluntary it isn't slavery.

Edit: Casual visitors bring up the questions so frequently that it might be useful to post a link in the side bar.

No, your vision of restitution is statist.

Debtors prisons, penal labor and prison farms rely on a government and violating the non aggression principle.

Single women ages 22-30 with no children out-earn men in 147 out of 150 major U.S. cities - why is it ok that this level of inequality is cited as a good thing? by clexmondin politics

shrug I can only speak to this "study" and this article. It's in the best interest of us all to demand scientific rigor of ourselves and those who would speak to us - particularly the media.

The news article simply didn't quote the whole thing.

Exactly my point. An honest article would have been more thorough and also would have linked to the study so that readers could make their own inferences.
