AskNode: What is the best static site blog generator in node? by jheimarkin node

Bump, sounds like exactly what I am looking for.

I have never used marijuana. As a result, all I know is based on the seemingly constant praise and justification it receives on the internet. Reddit, what are your worst experiences with the drug and why is it illegal? by MagikalGiantin AskReddit

Regardless of the chemical affects of bud, smoking is not good for your lungs. Depending on how you take that first hit, specially if you have never smoked anything before, it can really fuck your lungs up. Also some people panic and swallow the smoke, which will make you want to throw up. Could also be that you have mild asthma.

Head or Body high, tingling or waves, level of munchies. Whenever you get something new, even if your supplier says its the same strain, start by just taking one small hit of the same size and use that to calibrate the dosage for what you want. Also check to see if you enjoy it better before or after eating, inside or outside (if that is a possibility), consider what your current stress level is, and keep in mind how much caffeine (or any other substance) you have consumed in the last day or so.

You explained it just fine. I would not have guessed that English is your second language (except for maybe because you write better than many native speakers).

I started smoking to get a different perspective on life. I eventually smoked pretty much all the time, then realized that I had the same perspective all the time. When stoned is the normal, it doesnt do much to relieve stress or change perspective. Plus diminishing returns and all that. No matter what your poison of choice is dosage is of the utmost importance.

Getting stuff that was laced with some kind of dissociative (probably PCP or K). Not really an argument for illegality, but it was my worst experience. The thing about that, was that it really did make it a gateway drug. A few of the people I was with decided that they liked the brain smashing high better and got into harder drugs. My response was to quit for a while.

I know I use it to self medicate, gastrointestinal problems and too good of memory (it makes it really hard to concentrate on what you are supposed to be doing when you remember literally everything), and I am sure that if I didn't smoke it would find other ways to deal with them. Maybe that is a bad thing, but I have also had very bad experiences with proscribed medications.

As far as why it's illegal? William Randolph Hurst owned all the paper mills and hemp paper was going to out compete him. So he used the influence of his papers and xenophobia to get it criminalized. Why is it still illegal? Because there are many vested interests that have industries based on products that would have to compete with it, because of private prisons, and politicians that have carriers based on being tough on drugs. Because it is hard to admit that we were wrong.

I know that you have probably heard something along those lines already and not exactly what you are looking for, but that is the truth of it. The science shows that it is no more dangerous than many other legal substances, that many of the problems (crime, quality, etc) are related to it being illegal, and that the proper solution (whether it is illegal or not) is treatment, not imprisonment.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it is terrible for anyone who is/could become schizophrenic, and considering that doesnt show up until the mid 20's in most cases there is a decent argument that if it were legalized it should be legal later than 21. It certainly should not be regularly used by teenagers.

Both articles make atomically sound and valid arguments, but they are axiomatically wrong. They are mistaking the Program or Be Programmed meme (to put Rushkoff at the fore) for an endorsement of a specific, narrow, definition of coding. Equivocating and falsely correlating many serious issues in programming/coding culture, such as the focus on programming politics and fashion over problem solving, with problems of the learn to code movement.

I think the initiative is incredibly important because it is going to force "us" to deal with these issues, as they become all the more apparent as lay people become involved. It is important that the movement emphasizes an understanding of programming that is broad, both theoretical and practical, to not teach the mistakes of programming culture at large, includes education about programming (the meta if you will, the history), and its limitations. However, this in no way invalidates the promotion of coding as a general skill.

Atwood's criticism should be taken to heart, they are all insightful, but they are missed applied here. The No DB article posted today makes basically the same points in regards to databases.

Don't miss the finger for the moon. Don't mistake the map for the territory.

I think there is an important lesson in general here. Intelligence is non-linear. Intelligence is a manifold. There are all different kinds of smart, and people should be exposed to as many fields as possible at a basic level so they can find the ways in which they are mentally talented. Atwood is right that we dont need everyone writing kernel code. But a population that actually understands that computers follow certain rules and limitations will make better choices as consumers and citizens and better distribute labor and talent.

This is a place where neo-classical economic thought is way to dogmatic. Just look at evolutionary theory, over specialization will destroy you, adaptability is the key to success. Omnivorous species survive ecological crises. One trick labors become unemployable when their economic bubble bursts. Specialization is essential in instances, but must be balanced by the ability to communicate with other disciplines and adapt over time. Having a broad base, and a balanced education (as college level education is supposed to promote), is essential to working well with others, being civically engaged, and being an informed rational consumer.

Spot on. I also think the idea that programing is not a basic skill like math or natural language is going to be ridiculous in the future. I think Atwood largely misses a lot of what Rushkoff, O'rielly, Lessig are promoting. I have never felt that they everyone should code movement has treated coding as an end in and of itself. Math and language are not either. They are all technologies, tools. I agree with many of Atwoods individual points, but I think he is totally missing the big picture here.

It is time to say goodbye to MongoDB for a variety of technical reasons by mariuzin programming

[–]GnarlinBrando 12 points13 points ago

This article would be more credible if that last paragraph did not exist. Considering the author is berating companies for assigning people who "can't spell" to work on DB's while the article itself is full of terrible grammar and spelling mistakes. Plus these are not exactly new criticisms.

My impression of Riak was that its way more about instant replication and fault tolerance. Regardless there are a lot more resources for Mongo.

I have seen so many different router and history modules. I have no idea which one is the best, but I know you do not have to take nearly as large of a hit SEO wise on single page apps and dynamically created content as you used to.

Also in response to the parent comment: wow captain obvious. Of course people should have some idea of what they are planning on doing and how different technologies would work. You managed to say nothing in 5 paragraphs just trying to be anti-hipster.

Partially because it is a rather old branch of econ, but some people are finally starting to wake up and realize that game theory/information/complexity sciences, many of the less well known branches of math, and modern neuro-psych and anthropology are all fields of hard science that have a great deal to say about how we make and exchange goods and services. Integrating all of that is a lot to ask for, but I'd settle for just a better understanding of entropy.

It's not that the history and work of austrian economics as an academic tradition has nothing to offer. It is that all the people who support it now are raving fanatics. Being a dogmatic Chicago school economist, et al is no better. Economics is not treated like a science by many of its practitioners.

My thoughts exactly. It's too bad he is such a crazy dude, he hits on a lot of important issues that MSM totally ignore. Unfortunately he just likes to spin off into wild tangents of nonsense. In the end I think it does more harm than good because so much real shit gets mixed up in his crazy it makes all of it look like BS and conspiracy theorys.

With the passage of CISPA expected tomorrow a lot of people want to delete their facebook accounts. Can anyone from Project Meshnet help design a social media platform that we can believe in? by kingvitamanin darknetplan

Yes, because google can do it so can we! Joking aside, the network affect is whats holding things back for google, and will for any new social network. It is why it is so important to be involved in the politics and whatnot, we cannot just keep innovating ahead of regulation.
