Long story short: The BBC won the trademark for the TARDIS, because the police never registered the trademark or sold police box merchandise. Reinforcing that is the fact that in the public's mind, police boxes ARE pretty much the TARDIS.

Again, no, it was way way way past awkward pickup and into straight up demeaning. Trust me, there was a certain condescension in there that wouldn't be there if it was just an awkward fail of a chat-up.

No, it was way way way past awkward pickup and into straight up demeaning. I know awkward pickups, I used to be the only girl playing 40k when I was a teenager. This is not my first experience with geek guys.
