Nurse refuses student inhaler during asthma attack (teenager's mother finds him locked inside the nurse's office, unconscious on the floor.) by Sugar_Skullin politics

[–]3ricG 1 point2 points ago

When I was in high school students under 18 years old were supposed to leave their asthma medicine with the nurse. Even though this was the policy, the nurse said we should carry the medicine with us, and just leave an extra in her office.

Question about Barcade area/parking by 3ricGin philadelphia

[–]3ricG[S] 0 points1 point ago

Unless I'm in a rush I always try to put my stereo faceplate in the glovebox, and put everything else out of sight. I've heard stories that peoples cars have been broken into for change (not sure how true that is), and I've always hidden everything to attempt to minimize the chance of a break-in. Thanks for the response!

Question about Barcade area/parking by 3ricGin philadelphia

Okay, that's kind of what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't parking in an area known for car thefts/break-ins. Thanks!

Benchmarking the Raspberry Pi against a Sheeva Plug w/ Surprising Results by UnaClockerin raspberry_pi

I'm wondering if buying a class 4 SD was a bad idea. I saw a few Class 6 and 10 cards, but thought it might have trouble with them. Are you having any problems with the class 10 card?

I think you should still tell people to go to #awesome. I use xfce, and if I have a problem, I go to #xfce. In my opinion, if you have a problem with a piece of software and that software has its own channel, you should try to get support from there first.

Man Steals His Bike Back From The Guy Who Stole It From Him by AlastairEvansin humor

Kryptonite u-locks tend to be what people use in Philadelphia. Usually, the front wheel of the bike is removed, and locked to the back wheel and frame to prevent theft of that as well.

Mine was ordered 6 minutes after his (about 300 units later), and I still haven't received mine (I live in NJ). Hopefully it comes sometime this week.

EDIT: I see my mistake, I thought it was in Euros. The invoice they just sent me shows it is in GBP. Thanks for the heads up!

This is what Farnell sent me when I asked them about the price:

Good Afternoon

Thank you for your below email. We have charged your card for £38.55 in total

This is made up of £24.55 for the Raspberry PI & £14.00 for shipping costs.

This will then have been converted to US Dollars by your card issuer

Best regards
Nick

As of right now, that converts to $50.32. I don't think that the price changed that much since my order was placed (to be charged $62.41), but I don't keep up on exchange rates. I was going to contact my cardholder, but haven't yet. I'll probably just end up eating the $10 extra payment

What is a non-time expiring data block. I saw this mentioned on a few sites, and wasn't sure what it was. Also, is it true that you can't get charged with piracy/copyright infringement for downloading from this? Are the content providers the only people who could be charged?

Export Farnell is shipping! Wait..what? $62.84? by kerneltrapin raspberry_pi

[–]3ricG 0 points1 point ago

The rep from my card issuer did say there was about a $10 overcharge (probably due to conversion of Euros), but he can't do anything without an invoice/receipt. Farnell never actually emailed one to me, so now I'll have to wait for that...
