  • Shut down computer

  • Get a pair of sunglasses

  • Go outside and face that big, bright, yellow thing in the sky for at least 30 mins

I am English. Please explain to me this bright yellow thing in the sky you talk of.

Being the mother of teenagers, I take that as a compliment :).

Learn to break things down into steps.

If its something you know you should be doing but don't want to, do it anyway. Do it twice. Break yourself of the urge to procrastinate and your life will be that much better off.

I like the idea of post-its on the mirror, but I usually put them where other people will see them as well. If the only person who knows I need motivation is me, there is far too much opportunity to resist it.

Eat healthier. Drink a lot of water. Stop drinking things with sugar in them. Take walks. Commit yourself to learning something new and useful every day. Don't go to bed until you do.

Do something to help others as often as you can.

Take time to have conversations with yourself. Be introspective. Pay attention to your dreams. Pay attention to the signs.

Don't be afraid to ask for help.

If you dont already, learn to love yourself. Cut ties with people who don't appreciate you. Go to one new place (or put yourself in one new situation) each week where the opportunity to connect with new people is abundant.

Talk to yourself in the mirror. Be kind. Be understanding. Be forgiving.

Discover the things you have to be thankful for...and then do it. Positivity is key!

Good luck. Hope I dont sound like a cheesy self-help tape.

If that is stolen, he used a time machine, stole it from my head, then went back and said it.

If this is a bucket list reference....well, my bucket list is full of activities I want to experience, but my betterment list has activities designed to improve the condition of my life. Perhaps a subtle distinction, but an important one, nonetheless.

I only said that because I was reading your suggestions as if Morgan Freeman were narrating. It was soothing.

Meditate every day.

Work out every day.

Clean your space everyday.

Wait 90 seconds before you react to provocation.

Are you looking to 'feel' better or 'be' better? Most forms of self-improvement are difficult at first, and don't feel good.

Crank up your iPod, and dance around your place in your undies or a cute dress.

Watch Star Wars (original three) and then immediately follow it up with Spaceballs. Best when combined with alcoholic beverages and friends.

Make myself feel better: read reddit.

Make myself more productive: don't read reddit.

Don't worry, be happy.

Don't anguish over the past.

Don't fear you are not prepared for the future.

Do step outside of your comfort zone.

Do 20 pushups every day before you go to bed. It only takes a minute and is a great way to build some upper body strength and monitor your weight. I know when I'm struggling to make my 20, I've put on a few so I take it easy with the snacks until I lighten the load. Because of this little exercise, I'm never really out of shape even if I break from my workouts for a month or so.
