What is this?

/r/brutalhonesty is based on the LJ Community of the same name, http://community.livejournal.com/brutal_honesty. Users post their most intimate secrets and others comment with brutal honesty. BH was quite popular on LJ for a number of years but has since declined in popularity. Although it's not exactly clear what caused the decline in quality, it probably had something to do with a new generation of ban-happy moderators.

/r/brutalhonesty hopes to recapture some of the good old dicks. It may fail, but at least someone came.

What makes a good post?

A good post provides lots of juice, plenty of details, and room for discussion. One-liners are generally discouraged. Links are fine, if there's more to them in the post / comments.

A good post is not whining. A good post is not an advice-column.

What are the rules

LJ BH was known for many, many rules. There are none here, yet. This may change if needed, but I've always sided with less, not more regulation, when it comes to communities like this. Reddit seems particularly well-suited to self-moderation.
