Using Advanced Fittit

What is the first thing I should do here on Advanced Fittit?

The first thing you should do is read this FAQ. All of it. Thank you.

What are the rules and guidelines of Advanced Fittit?

  • General
    • Science, particularly studies and published articles, are greatly welcomed
    • Idea and or exercise/modification, thoughts and reasons.
    • Rational discussion on the topic, providing evidence when needed that isn't the first hit of Google
  • Users
    • Users are expected to have a considerable exercise and/or nutrition history. While there is no hard number, six (6) months does not count.
    • Users are expected to behave and have mature discussions and debates. No flame wars.
  • Appropriate Topics (not a complete list)
    • New scientific studies or articles
    • Requesting critiques of your thoroughly written routine, nutrition, supplements, and re/prehab.
    • New lifting or exercise techniques, discussing the advantages and disadvantages
    • Here is a good example of a typical post. He clearly did some research (exrx), provided links, and explicitly stated his goals.
  • Inappropriate Topics (not a complete list)
    • How do I start working out, lose weight, gain muscle, tone up, etc. Those should be in /r/Fitness (only *after* reading their FAQ)
    • Rage/f7u12/meme comics
    • "Lack of motivation" threads
    • Karma whoring

The moderators of Advanced Fittit reserve the right to remove threads which do not adhere to these guidelines. If a thread is removed by a moderator, they will send a message detailing their reasoning, most likely in the format below:

How do I ask for help?

In Advanced Fittit, the idea is that readers know how their body responds through both education and experience. If, through multiple searches both here and elsewhere on the internet, you still have a question, please try to include the following information.

  • Weight, Height, Sex, and Age
  • Your Goals (weight loss, muscle, etc)
  • Any injuries or disorders that we should know about? (Diabetes, broken ankle, etc)
  • Do you smoke? (If yes, stop. Stop now.)
  • History of diet or exercise (What have you tried? What worked? What didn't?)
  • Where do you exercise?
  • Pictures (with regard to body composition posts)
